Have I got something dodgy running in the background on my PC, or has scoobynet started running these infernal things.
If it's the former, how do I find out what's doing it?
If it's the latter, I'm off!

It's not Scoobynet. It could be a few things:
- Try running Ad-Aware or SpyBot to check your PC for adware. Lots of dodgy web sites install this stuff on your PC, and even legit sites will allow cookies from advertising sites to be stored on your pc and used to track your surfing habits. So, it's good practise to run one of these regularly anyway.
- If that doesn't throw up the problem, then it could be Windows Messenger. Which OS are you running? On W2K or XP, right click My Computer and choose Manage, then double click Services and Applications > Services > Messenger. Change 'Startup time' to be 'manual' or 'disabled' and reboot your PC.
- If even that doesn't help, go to www.google.com and install their toolbar. Ironically enough for a site funded entirely by ads, their toolbar includes a very effective pop-up ad blocker![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
