Default Anybody know about sockets

All Garage Mechanics

I'm trying to remove the front coilovers and can't find a 19mm spanner to fit because of the recess of the standard topmount.
Deep ring spanners won't fit and a socket won't allow an alley key in. Can I order a short 19mm "spark plug" type socket which can be used with a spanner ?
If so who makes them and what is the correct term.

Cheers Mark A

I'm afraid I cheated and bought a "deep throated" socket from Halfrauds, ground a hexagon on the end with a bench grinder and welded an old spanner to it. (The welding was overkill, as the hexagon was a good fit to the spanner.)

Instant Impreza suspension tool

I'm not a garage mechanic, but it seemed to work...

Have you tried a socket and a pair of grips round it?

I used an air gun to do mine. Didn't need an allen key

Is this what you're after?

It's by Beta. It's meant for deep applications, but would allow access for a key if the short end was deep enough.

PMSL! BOING!!!!!!!!

get some 1200 grit wet n dry, wrap it round the actual strut rod about 4 times then clampround that with a pair of mole grips, make sure you get the mole grips as close to the top of the rod as you can. Then undo with a socket...

Or use an Air gun like i did :d

I think dnb is the best solution as I have no compressor at the moment. I will try using a box spanner first.
