Talking What would happen if...

I fitted a scoobysport backbox to my standard MY02 Euro STi

JUST the backbox, absolutly nothing else.

I'm after a better sound.

I've heard rumours that even to do this I should have my ecu remapped, is this the case, or can I literally bolt the exhaust on, and not have a worry in the world?

Last thing I want is a load of boost spikes, and long term problems.

Cheers

Steve

I'm certainly not an expert but I doubt that you would need a re-map from just fitting a backbox.

I think boost spiking problems with STI's were down to full de-cats (and the problem could be easily fixed).

No doubt someone will be along to give a more definitive answer shortly

Would I get a much nicer sound just changing the backbox?

Yes.

My 03 Sti's sound improved lots just fitting a Ninja backbox.

No boost probs or anything.

IMO get the afterburner vortex angled exit jobby. don't know if it adds more power as i fitted it as soon as i picked up the car from the dealer, but it sounds like god. out of all the different exhausts that i've heard it's my favourite, just need the afterburner decat centre now

Plus the angled exit one looks awesome and it's a real easy fit, took about a minute to do (once we'd removed the original that was rusted solid!)

Thumbs up

HKS Super Drager.

Similar to Blitz NUR above but a bit quieter.
