Question

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I would like to get a definitive view. Is the quickshift for an MY01 worthwhile? Also, are there any downsides?

Driven MY01's with and without q/s, had it fitted to mine and had no problems at all.

No downsides, but the MY01 gearbox is so good the difference is hardly noticable. Just a tad less travel. Keep your 300 and put it elsewhere.

Hi Haynesaj
I have just developed my own q'shift lever for Impreza, beats the Prodrive lever handsdown. There is no ill effects on fitting a q'shft except on very worn G'box.
I could even sell you a second hand Prodrive lever if you want, check it out @

Had mine fitted only last week, and whilst not a huge difference, it is noticable and I definately prefer it. Especially as I have now fitted the momo gearknob from Halfords that you guys recommended.
This makes the throw feel shorter, as it sits lower down.

Hi folks,

I don't often post but have recently had a quick shift for my New 01 Impreza from a place in N.Ireland that I came across by chance.
They only charged me £70 exchange which included carriage.
I'm very happy with it, miles better than standard.
They are on

If you have a post '98 car the quick shift is not worth it, the standard shift is nearly as as quick, and the quick shift can out pace the gearbox. Not a good investment.

Thanks for the info everyone. It seems that its split 50-50ish on whether it makes a difference. I guess it comes down to personal taste and driving style. I tend to perform my gear changes very fast and sometimes (when going from 1st - 2nd), miss. I wonder whether the q/s would help? I want to use the Prodrive one so that it does not invalidate the warranty. Sure wish I could try before I buy, as its a lot of money to spend on something which I might not get any benefit out of.

Try before you buy...........not a problem......in fact I insist.

If you like I'll send you a quickshift for trial and if you like it fine if not send it back. Cost is £100 Irish Punts.

Paul.

Was initially dissappointed till I fitted the Momo ****. Much shorter travel and good feel now a worthwhile mod. Don't think changes are any quicker though, just feel sportier.
