Just done my final measurements this week, Leeds to Notts and back, leeds to HUll and back. + a little running around.
277 miles and 44.7 lts = 28.16mpg @around 70-80 mph @2700 rpm

Thats about right now, i've done two ful m-way runs average 29.01 and a mucking about few days that ran out to 19mpg.

Just for info in case your looking at an STi or want a comparison.

Tim

The ratio of 6th on an STi is nearly the same as 5th on a WRX - there's just a smaller gap (closer ratio) between the gears.

P.S. forgot to say - your speedo is also about 7-8% out daz so you were probably doing an actual speed of 68-73 mph, sounds petty but it make quite a big difference to mpg as the extra power req'd at that speed to go just 5mph faster is relatively high

cheers

Gav, I'm still running in my STi8 Type UK (380 miles on clock) and have been driving like a ***** for the last few weeks, turbo blades have probably not even spooled in yet as I have been around 3000 rpm. My fuel economy is still sh!te but to be honest I didn't buy the car for economy having owned an STi Type R for 4 years the grin factor far out-weighed the feekin hole in my wallet. Enjoy the car and b0llocks to the economy!! Oh by the way Gav forgot to mention my STi8 is apparently the only one in the universe WITHOUT the Prodrive (oops, sorry PPP)performance upgrade so I suppose everyone will think I own a sh!te car now. Take care now.

Cool

Wouldn't worry about it Ady - I have an 03 WRX and the inferiority complex comes with it when near an STI. However, it is at least 5k cheaper and in real life driving, every bit as quick.

Also, most WRX's seem to make (on the roller) well beyond the claimed 222 odd BHP - mine made just short of 240 standard and someone else on here made 251 (I think) as against a standard STI at around 264 BHP.

PPP - great but should have been fitted as standard to an STI I think tio justify the extra cost. I am sure you will agree. Great car though. Just need a cushion to see over the bonnet vent.

All the best with car - 1000 miles coming soon.

Brian.

Cheers Brian, your damn right about the scoop, I'm afraid of ingesting a sheep or two in it!! Your also right about the horsepower too as most jap cars seem to out perform the quoted figures. Enjoy yer Scoob, see ya L8tr.

I find it a bit wierd when the WRX PPP is supposedly the same power as the STI. Impreza's were always a fave of mine for years and the WRX PPP was a real real disapointment, I can't tell you how gutted I was..... far too much lag and really didnt feel like it went at all. The STI8 UK (standard) just felt such a more exciting car to drive which makes me question prodrives figures.....plus you can easily pick an STI8 brand new for £23K......nice

evening chaps

Giving serious thought to change to a STI 8/PPP, but the dealer is quoting £25k ! ! ! If I can quote a specific deal I am sure he will come down

I picked up my STi8 on Saturday

So far, half a tank circa 140 miles keeping it below 4k though.
