I mixed 1/4 tank optimax + 1ml/litre NF with 3/4 tank "ultimate" and my KnockLink went all sparkly. Including a Big Red! Not be doing that again in a hurry

I'm sure it's probably ok for standard cars, but not if you like lots of boost from a td04 on a standard ecu.

Just been watching an internal corporate video on how they developed the new fuels.

One part had 2 STi 8's racing on track, using different fuels. Nice

Didn't say what the RON was though

Question

What on earth were they comparing it against in the other STi8?
Vegetable oil?

I still fail to see who this stuff is aimed at?
Would be interesting to find out if market share for Ultimate increases long term as opposed to their old Super.
IMHO I think it is a bit of a white elephant.

Probably a standard fuel?? Fairly obvious test I would have thought, to copare it with the new fuel.

The aim of the Ultimate will be to win back some of the customers which went to Optimax. From an environmental point of view, the replacement products across the range (ie Ultimate diesel etc) will be the equivalent of taking 1 million cars off the road per year (from memory)

Local BP garage is charging 85.9 ppl for Ultimate

Local Shell is charging 80.9 for Optimax

Do BP really think that I am going to switch to a lower octane fuel and pay an extra 5 ppl.

hmmm...let me think about that one!!!

I tried Ultimate in my car today and it was...

OK

Nothing special could be detected by my untrained senses... I would not go out of my way to buy it (unlike Optimax), but if it I needed fuel and it was nearby then I'd fill up!

Someone with common sense... I am nither for or against it, but pretty sure I wouldn't be able to tell which was "better" without some serious monitoring gear on the car.

The same happened when Optimax came out. Loads of people compainted their 0-6 hadn't halved, and that they hadn't gained 50bhp on the rollers, and that the car ran like a dog

Question

BP Ultimate, hhmmmmm, not so ultimate, I think.

Optimax makes a difference, BP Ultimate, not so. In fact I cannot tell an improvement over the normal BP supergreen to the new supposedly improved juice.

Whereas I stick in a tank of Optimax, and Hey presto , more performance
