Standard MY99; dry day; wheelspin @ 60mph in 3rd!
I pulled out of a junction onto the A1 and floored it up through the gears. There was a wet substances on part of the road and it appeared to be water from the nearby construction of the dualled part of the A1 by Haddington. Apparently is was not water
Just after passing through it I changed into 3rd and all four wheels let rip
At first the slip was so smooth I didn't notice until the car started to drift sideways and towards the other side of the road
A quick correction and it was all sorted
Kinda weird though to have wheelspin in a scooby at 60-odd mph!! I assume it was oil or another fuel of some kind.

My workmate's bruv is a cop (now CID) but was a Lothian & Borders traffic cop a few years back.
While driving back from East Lothian, he managed to lose it on an diesel spill coming off the roundabout just outside Macmerry....he was there attending an accident caused by the same spill...
He got ribbed for it for weeks....bit of damage to the Volvo too :-(

You could call the police, or you could just report it to the roads dept.
What the police would do is, attend and confirm that its diesel etc and then they call the roads dept! lol
The only benefit would be that they could temporarily close the road until the Roads arrive with their bags of sand/salt.

I always call the police when I see stuff like that because it's so dangerous to the village peeps on bikes
