Impreza wagon, 1.X ????

It wouldnt go up hills unless I ragged the SH*te out of it...and they removed the cigarette lighter and ashtray so had to use the floor.

edited cause I am having spelling lessons

I was given a 2.0 Sport GX Blobeye- it was very, very slow but handled well enough despite it's extremely light steering.

I got a Yaris.... Smallest boot in the world, nearly rivalling a mini, I thought, and power to match it. Kind of annoying digital speedo as well. Nice idea, but you see the numbers moving from the corner of your eye

I got a red YRV like that during my service. Looked exactly like Postman Pat's van and was just as fast! It is so bad you can't help but rag the nuts off it.

STi????!!!!

I get a crappy Daihatsu each and every time and they now want you to pay £20 to reduce the insurance excess (otherwise it is £1,000!!!!!!!)

Not sure they are trying to keep me with that little bit of fun and games

silverback,

From you post I conclude that you are probably using the same dealer as me. I have to say, I am not at all impressed with them attitude wise, and I am trying to find an alternative (they are expensive too). Stiffing you £20 for such a cr@p car, and still having a £250 excess is seriously taking the pi55. The garage I take my wife's car to charges £4, the cars are better (marginally), and there is no excess if you damage it.

Had PPP done at Cross Roads and got a Legacy. Excess and petrol only cost £1.50 (they must have made an error) for 1/2 day's use and approx 100 miles. Excellent.

A Daihatsu Charade (Noddy Car) . No charge for insurance though I thought Id better put some petrol in. Put £8 in thinking it would last the day. Did about 60 mile and the needle didnt budge from the half full line.

The last four, in order were...

Fiat *unto 1/2 day
Vauxhall Corsa 2 days
Forester AllWeather 3 weeks !!!!!
Renault 'Fat-***' Megane 2 days (Loadsa toys...footwell lights in all four doors...credit card key thingy...and lights that turn themselves on when it gets dusky (I'll know it's time to give up driving when I can't be ar5ed turning on the lights.)

BTW, that's not a YRV, it's a Terios. YRV's are kinda funky looking little hatch's

I generally get a Citreon C3 (they are awful, sheer awfulness on four wheels!) Last time however I got a Pug 106 1.1, it was well fun! Being made of tinfoil it out accelerated the crappy 1.4 C3 a hundred times over, actually handled aswell.

03 Legacy - Very nice car, got some very admiring looks in it surprisingly.
I have heard no mention of insurance excess for it. Only talk of insurance was when I asked why I couldn't get a car of similar power, like a new WRX Sti - they said they couldn't insure them as easily, so I would have to cover that on my own policy. So presumably no insurance excess on the Legacy (well maybe not, but as they didn't mention it they couldn't enforce it). Also came with half a tank of petrol, and went back with a lot less
Pick up my car and it's been washed and waxed and gearbox rebuilt under warranty at a cost of 1400 quid
No probs with Subaru here - and I really like that Legacy - if it came with 280 Bhp, i'd buy one.

I had a Legacy estate once.... nearly stacked it on the way back to the dealer, down the country lanes.

I was just doing my normal speed, as I was in no particular hurry (brisk but not fast), when the back end started fishtailing. I hadn't made allowances for the fact that it handled like a barge, compared with my MY00 Impreza Turbo.

Its the most scared I have been for ages.
