Wink

I had the chance to be offered some FREE petrol - 25 litres of it

The downer is that its also mixed with 10 litres of diesel (long story)

Not content with the price of regular fuel, I though what the hell, and poured it in my daily banger - the almighty Nissault Sunny

I can conclude that this hybrid fuel reduces starting ability, Reduces performance, makes it missfire and stall, Makes it pink like tubular bells. And leaves a amusing yet earth killing smoke trail like the Reliant Robin from Fools & Horses

Oh and it stinks too

Suffice to say that this fuel is staying well clear of the scoob (although I put another 10 litres of it in the landy - which should be interesting)

Diesel would lower the octane rating of the petrol dramatically, and not even fire if it was too much diesel for that particular engine!

Don't do it!!!

Thats why I call it Dieselmax low octane petrol

Anyhoo, wtf are you supposed to with petrol with diesel mixed in with it? Can't store it in the house as there is 30odd litres of it as its illegal. Can't dispose of it down the tip as its highly flamable. And can't pour it down the drain - illegal again!

Plus theres £20 of petrol in that lot, Not giving that away

Anyway the Nissan can run on 90RON fuel and has stupidly retarded ignition (2 degrees BTDC I think). And the Landy was designed to run on really low octane fuel (RON of low 80's)thus why it has 8.5 compression and ignition set to TDC (though it's set at 6 BTDC at the mo). Oh crap... I've gone all techy again

And seeing both are knackers its hardly worth worrying about.

But yeah, ok... AL says...

"don't even dream of putting it in a petrol engine which has high compression (or forced induction) and advanced ignition timing. Doubt it would do cats or o2 sensors much good either"

Can't they be separated out? I thought that Diesel was heavier than Petrol?

dunno 'bout that, I once lifted 1kg of diesel and 1kg of petrol, and they felt about the same weight to me

Its not one of these dodgy photos is it where the dogs head is burning on the bbq??!!

Chris

Would make a good draught excluder though, at least it would if you had a narrow door... lol
