Just quoting what my dealer (who has previously been on the money with such things) has mentioned to me, and indeed what's been said here by a couple of other dealer-related employees.

Not commenting one way or the other on a "P1 type" car being released over here, next year or in 2005. All I've been told is that there will be no fundamental changes to the current model lineup for next year - no more or no less.

rumour trails

2001
A bad start with the bugeye sales plummiting they forgot name alone won't sell Impreza's, So 'ugly', heavy, underpower Bugeye stood no chance a litle glimmer of hope rested with the UK300 but didn't stem the Tide.

The designer either had to commit to Hari Kari or got back to designing smaller components, So started on the Scoop for the MY03 LOL

2002
Saw big turn around in last years poor sales by making the 'Ugly' bugeye perform, handle and Brake The STi7UK ( doctored looks by Prodrive furthered by the STi Special S202(Sold out within weeks) things were looking up for Subaru Yet Subaru not totatlly convinced enough to commit to UK lightweight specials like RB5, P1 etc.

2003
Introduce the Blobeye Facelift, sales going well yet still no Prodrive models or STi special Edition this year!!!! Odd that !! Wonder whats waiting in the wings ??????

The sales graph is now going up and up. Subaru/Sti/Prodrive must keep the momentum going
Perhaps we might find out late Novemeber what STi and Prodrive have been up to over the last 12 months

2004 will be interesting

Possible Models being availble
MY04 WRX
MY04STi9(DCCD)
PS04 (petter)
RB04(Richard)
S304

PS04 may be a UK'Type C' Produced by Prodrive, PPP(Ecuteck),PHP, PDF 18" and PBP

S304 likely to be a STi special Edition wide bodied FMIC 2.5Ltr closer looks to WRC car

IMHO IIRC and no insider Trading

Churchwa,
Would Depend on the date of the Production run Sept - Oct) delivery to UK (Nov) The odd tweak by Prodrive and UK'd, alarms, etc. Then we could buy it in Feb 04(Prehaps)

Prodrive didn't do a lot of work and PR on their ATD system for nothing And would imagine shall play a part in a 2004 car O/K maybe not on the UK limited(P1/RB5 eqivilent £31k) but maybe on the STi S304 (22B eqivilent £40k)

IMHO

Tony

Question

Has anyone heard what changes are likely to be made to the MY04?
Also any LE's in the pipeline, we haven't had one since UK300 in 2001. Its September and info about the new MY year usually start to filter through.

The UK300 only exists because Subaru UK had excess stock they needed rid of. Instead of repeating the trick to shift the last of the MY02's, they dropped the price by £3K.

Apparently this year's sales are up to expectation, so no apparent need for a spurious "special edition", unless you count the one with leather seats and sunroof, which isn't a limted edition in the UK300 sense.

No major changes for next year's cars by all accounts, although more info will be available in the next couple of months.

Cool

Maybe the UK300 was a bit "spurious" but it was made to inject a bit of interest into a model which faced stiff critism at launch, particularly those bugeyed headlamps that the majority of owners (including me) ditched at purchase time. I was really referring to the LE greats like Series MCrae, Terzo, 22B, RB5 and P1. Lets have a MY04 STI P1 equivalent possibly based on the new Spec C but prepared by Prodrive and under £30K

Hmmm I'm not sure - the next shape change isn't till 2006, so we may see a 'P2' on the roads between now and then, surely.

Greasemonkey, seeing as you know your onions,

Do you know the state of play regarding euro regs in the next 12 months and if the current spec car meets any impending changes ?

Having just had a chat with a dealer friend, he tells me that there are little or no changes for MY04 Impreza & no SE as told to the dealer conference recently.

New Legacy might have some excitement though, so watch out for the 3.0L

There is rumours of Garett (Sp?) Gearbox's drive Train Specialists doing work on Six speed box to take 350+lbs of Torque and rear diff's for ATD system for Subaru/Prodrive but only uncomfirmed rumours

I wonder 'What' Model's or Special Editions there for ? perhaps nothing more sinister than Group 'N' parts maybe !!!!
