sorry - HPB (High Ping Basterd - 56K?????)
When i was on NTL 56K you could remove the software that caused you to be disconnected after 2 hours. Just note down the phone number that your dialling and your login credentials and create a manual new connection in dial up networking. At least that is what i did about 3 years ago. Not sure if it still applies.

i use getright on 56k
it reconnects to the internet and will even switch off the computer when done.
also you can pause your downloads and resume them later.
I have downloaded 200MB files using this.
Just do it overnight and during the day.
Then when i comne back from work its all done

When i was on NTL 56K you could remove the software that caused you to be disconnected after 2 hours.
The two hour timeout is at the other end of the link -- it's configured on the NAS (I guess they're using something like a Cisco AS5300/AS5400).
You can defeat the idle timeout by sending pings periodically, but you can't defeat the two hour cutoff.
This used to be a real problem when Napster was the only P2P program

Go to http://www.download.com and search for download accelerator plus. Not only will it improve your download speeds but you can resume everytime you turn on your PC, easy to use and best of all free.
