03 MY WRX PPP Now available
I see the 03 MY PPP is now available from IM for you guys
boost peak power is now 265 ps at 6000 rpm
previously 225 at 5,600 rpm with torque up
16% to 348 NM at 3200 Rpm
the figures look really impressive

As I recall Prodrive used the ECUtek software to unlock the ECU. The map is their own. The PPP is more than an ECU. It's a whole series of mods that make up the whole. I.e if you just changed the ECU you'd seen a gain, but not as much as if you fitted the whole thing

Can I ask what the other bits are, as well as the remapped ecu? As I recall, the 01-02 PPP was ecu + link pipe + backbox + intercooler pipes. Is the 03 PPP the same, or are the up/down pipes replaced? Does anyone know, or is it all still a bit of a secret?

I would think it's intercooler pipe (as before), backbox and centre decat (as before), and an ecutek (in place of old piggyback chip). With the ecutek, you don't need to change the restrictor.
Scoobysport quote similar power figures for remap plus backbox, which would also add up.
Ecutek is only the software used to re-map the engine, and prodrive have developed their own map, as Neil said. I encountered one of the pre-release test cars at power engineering once.
I think it is fair to say that the prodrive kit will meet emmissions standards and therefore won't be a full de-cat.
Has anyone confirmed whether the MY03 WRX actually has a catted up-pipe yet? Heard lots of speculation but only know of people who have checked pre-production versions.

I know emmissions are boring, but anyone know the CO2 figures for a MY03 with PPP, or where I can find out? My dealer is trying to find out for me, but doesn't seem to be having much luck. I'm a company car driver (yeah, boo, hiss
) and I'm looking at PPP as a happy medium between the WRX and getting molested by the taxman on an STi.
Thanks in advance.

Stanmo,
I have an MY00 with a TEK 2 and the RR graph's (263 BHP, 255 lbft). Having seen a torque / bhp graph from Prodrive this week and plotted the two against each other - IMHO, they are very close, but the PPP hits higher torque levels earlier than my TEK 2 and the peak is maintained for longer - so similar, but different.
It looks to me as though the PPP will improve the WRX performance remarkably!
I guess there is a limit to what you can do to increase performance at this sort of level.

The official emissions figures for the car are unchanged as far as your tax rating is concerened as the performance package is a post registration modification.
Even more of a result!

Sorry, I missed this thread for a couple of days. Phil, I think the up-pipe cat is retained in the 03 WRX. I'm still not sure if the exhaust mods are same for 01-2 and the 03 PPP. Would you tell us please Mr. Wood?
