Don't steam clean the engine. This works for some people, but can really have some bad effects. If you really want to clean the engine bay, you can buy stuff that you put on with a brush and hose off. Steam clean or jet wash can be risky.
Cheers.
Ian.

the Polti steam cleaner I use has a nossle/jet type attachment and the steam comes out at very high pressure and very hot - nothing like a 'traditional' wet steam cleaner - the steam is 'dry' so while not recommending getting anywhere near electics when used with something like Gunk it works a treat

Question

I thought Subaru coated the engine and all components with a protective greasy film. If you clean this off without puting something in its place you'll soon get corrosion starting.

Question

Mark/any1 i have the fine wax wizard goodies but aint plucked up courage 2 use the engine cleaner stuff yet as well i'm a coward lol
Just wondered if it was feasible, if a little more time consuming, just to kinda wipe the cleaner stuff on mucky areas then just wipe off + dirt with a damp cloth etc a short time later? As dont wana take any huge amounts of the wet stuff c/o hose jet wash wotever 2 the engine just wondered if there was any risk with just mopping/wiping da cleaner off & then using the protector goodies?
Si & his dirty engine

phil stephens...I always but always use a pressure washer in conjunction with my multiclean. After cleaning the enginew bay is then prepared using my engine bay protectant. Results...a better than new engine bay. Ask the likes of |John Felstead, Puff etc etc
