Would anyone agree with me that the actual display quality really sucks on a PS2 ?

I'm using the supplied SCART converter (red, white and yellow plugs that plug into the converter)

Really flickery / interlaced display - looks $hit. Reminds my of a Amiga1000 monitor running in HAM mode.

Anyone else think so ?

It's not like it all the games m8!

It's the way the developers have programmed the software!!! The trouble is most the titles have been rushed.

So, do we agree there IS a problem with some games looking really flickery and crap ?

I was wondering if its the cheap little scart convertor supplied. I'd go down the SVHS route mentioned, but only if it WILL make a difference.

In the demo for SSX, the graphics also jerk a little, which I reckon is down to an inferior PAL conversion. I thin I'll just sell it and get a US import with step-down transformer. At least then I'll know stuff is running at 60Hz as intended.

Daz,

We dont have to agree, cause it is fact m8!!!

If a RGB scart connection will not cure it, then a SVHS connection has no chance!!!

The only people who can cure this one is the developers!!!!

All the best lads!

Yeah, the problem I'm talking about is specifically seen with RidgeRacer V and ISS.

The pitch looks flickery when looking close up. The menus and stuff look flickery too.

Being a hardened ISS PRo EVO fan on PSX1, I'm quite impressed with ISS on PSX2 - there's a lot of neat stuff they've added in there.

I've heard ISS Pro Evo comes out on PSX2 in March (the version of ISS for PSX2 right now is written by the Nintnedo team at Konami, hence its very similar to the N64 version, whereas Konami's Sony team has always produced the better version)

March will also see the release of GT3 (PAL) hopefully (out Feb15 in japan). So March should be a good month for games.

Whats Dead or Alive 2 like ? That to me looks better than Tekken, although I've only SEEN them, not played them.

Just got ShenMue for Christmas on my Dreamcast - got to say in an unbiased fashion, that ShenMue is by far and away the best game I've played in a LONG time. Makes the PSX2 look very average, although that will change in time.

I've said it before, if you have the spare cash, go get yourself a Dreamcast while you're wait for the PSX2 to catch up.

Cool

I got mine yesterday with 5 games and i think it runs fine..

Also got the gladiator dvd and watched it lastnight. I'm really pleased with the quality. Absolutely fantastic i think - better than watching a vhs video by far.
If you have a good tv with good sound i guess that will help too.

SSX graphics are pretty damn cool and the game isn't bad either - can get a little boring though.

As someone above said the games have been rushed and that is my only complaint.. they don't seem to be big games.

Teken Tag is quite good, SSX is quite good too and ISS.

Silent Scope looks boring though.
Same for Timesplitters, its abit like a quake 3 deathmatch without the proper quake 3 game - not worth the money by far.
