Question

had a Blitz BOV on the car for a few month now, just recently its started to make a churping noise and just after the usual pssssst, can only hear here it when dumping below 0.5Bar anything above and its just the usual PSSSSST!

anyone else experience this, is it the cold weather??? or it is broken???

Could be the colder weather is causing the turbo to spool a little earlier and what you are hearing is the wastegate chatter?

..... on the other hand I could be talking bollox

Nah. If anything, you're putting less stress on it.

The BOV needs a clean when it starts sounding like that. I have one too.

Remove the BOV, take off the circlips on the bottom of the BOV, remove the piston, (If you can't remove the piston due to it being stuck, you will need to get an airgun and blow into the BOV from the top carefully). Inside the piston will be a spring, pull it out, clean the piston with WD40 and a cloth and do the same with the spring. You will find that the piston will have some black muck on it which is moisture build up. Do not use sandpaper or anything other than a cloth, otherwise you will take meat off the piston and the BOV will leak.

Cheers,

Wrexy.
