Cool

Yes I know you're all fed up of hearing race threads, but I thought I'd jsut tell you about my little race last night with a mini! Coming down A12 towards romford, A mini comes screaming past, making it obvious he wanted to play. I followed him and then he floored it. I let him go and it didn't seem all that, so when we got to the traffic lights I though't I'd blow him away. I was behind him, and we both went flat out. Thing is, I couldn't overtake him! It was the same speed as me! Three times we got lined up at the lights. Raced from every one and it stuck with me everytime. All i could do was half a car length up to 100mph!
My car = 93 WRX - 244bhp
Mini = S reg, wide arch, big wheels, twin centre exit exhaust which flamed a lot, full roll cage, possibly had a turbo although I couldn't hear properly as my car is so loud.
He was lovin it!
Watch out I say!

I thought you were going to talk about the new cooper S (the one with the supercharger and bonnet vent) which from the one I encounted you would have no trouble leaving...

Theres a black metro-turboed mini near me and it seriously shifts You can hear the dump valve from a mile off. Its got a sticker on the rear window that says "You've Been Mini-ed"

Makes me laugh as he tries to pull away from the CTR with his head bobbing up and down in the little cabin

Cool. To get that kind of power, particually at over 100mph in a mini it top marks. Excellent.....

Once you've taken a hammer to the bulkhead to make room for the turbo

I've seen a dark green mini at Santa Pod that was rear wheel drive with a cossie engine shoe horned in the boot!!!

The thing was incredible it looked like a big invisible hand picked it up and threw it down the runway!!! Best part of the day was watching it out do a Diablo down the strip!!

So beware that could upset most scoobs. I loved it though

Nice to see though. Respect due.

Saw on at boxhill a few weeks, very nice ..... very quick.

Metro Turbo engines in Mini's are a bit old hat now. The thing to do now is to use the Vauxhall 2 litre engine or as mentioned above one of the Honda VTEC units.

Currently building my brothers spaceframed rallycross mini and we used to use a 1380 A series engine which put out 135BHP. Engine was a total pain in the @rse as you had to use warm up spark plugs and the thing wouldn't idle properly because of the scatter cam.

Now we have bought the VTEC kit from Watsons rally and have got hold of a Jap Import Honda Civic SiR II. 170BHP for a completely standard road engine is pretty impressive so we are just going to use it as standard for now (Engine has done 70,000 miles and we drove it the 100 miles home!) and maybe change the cams and valvesprings for Type R versions at a latter date.

Considering how much money people are spending on the Vauxhall 1.6 engine (upto £2000 for a steel crank alone!!) to get 200+ BHP out of it I am very interested to see how a completely standard 1600 VTEC will compare.

Had a similar experience with a mini the other day! Bloke had a grin like a cheshire cat when we stopped next to each other! I was impressed I have to say. I was also a tad worried that something was wrong with my car!!!

bet its got more test failure sheets than a full fleet of ex council vans going for the first test!and i dont know what the weather is like down there, but if its as grim elsewhere as it has been here all week and the roads are wet and you still can't out drag a 2wd mini in a scooby you ought to be driving miss daisy in the next film!! mini's=slow ,old, cramped, and usually RUSTY!!.... ,so is your scooby for sale?are you trading it for a mini rose,or park lane,or even a mini racing!!wow??ha ha ha ha

Actually mate, I'd rather have my scooby than any mini.
Secondly, the mini WASN'T slow, so you need to accept that some people can make them go extremely fast. Have you been ignoring the other posts people have made??
