If you have a Clifford Concept 600 then its the third point wirelss immobiliser which never deactivates. It does that to me as well on the odd occasion. Otherwise it may be your fuel pump.

Do you have a dump to atmo valve fitted?

This sounds alot like the problems caused by the valve spring not being tight enough.

Cheers

Check -
MAF sensor
Temperature sender (as this controls cold enrichment or summat like that)

Second would be my guess from exceedingly limited knowledge

Cool

just because there is no CEL does not mean that the sensor is not working correctly. IIRC the maf degrades slowly sometimes and therefore does not develop a cel light.

Start the car and then unplug the maf, if it runs the same as it does when its plugged in (ie rough) then its the maf. If it stalls or runs worse, then its not the maf.

worth a quick try!
