Hi,

When accelerating hard in 2nd gear I notice a weird, what sounds like buzzing sound emanating from behind the instrument console / air vents. It only happens above 7000 rpm. The car's warmed up properly and all that. Just done 5000 miles. I've never taken it above 7.5 K

It sounds like general vibration rather than anything more serious but I never noticed it in my STi IV.

Anybody know what this is or experienced it themselves ?

Thanks in anticipation.

Regards,

Simon

Bob mate, it was my screaming cos of your driving

On an aside, when I took the VERY loud full SS system off my MY00 and put the standard one back on to take it to the dealer to PX it, I couldn't believe how many squeaks, rattles and groans it had that I hadn't heard with the SS system on LOL

Dave = Big Bear @ Swindon run.
But yes the SS exhaust covers a multitude of noises.

Thanks all.. Particularly Dave T-S; the most useful reply!.

Pete; thanks for the hilarity. That was rather good - whoever you are.

I'll stick some foam in my ears.

Exclamation

Many of the cars suffer from vibration of the three brake/clutch pipes that run along the bulkhead above the brake master cylinder giving a peculiar buzzing noise - normally whilst giving it large in second and changing to third.

The cure is to stuff a bit of foam rubber in between the pipes and the bulkhead.

I also had a few strange noises coming from my P1. I sorted them with a full ScoobySports Exhaust system.
I do get a high pitched sound coming from my left when at high rev's but I tell Dave to shut up. (Sorry Dave could not resist.)
