Any mods which leave the warrenty intact?
Wondering if there are any mods at all that leave the warrenty intact (apart from the PPP). I've a MY99 - still got a while on the old warrenty - but was looking for something as simple as a boost gauge.
Does everything bugger the warrenty?

Most mods you make will only affect the waaranty on the part you have swapped, ie, if you change your exhaust for a SS one and it goes rusty IM obviously won't help, but then of course SS will.
There is proably a limit as to how far you can go, but fitting gauges certainly won't affect the warranty at all, unless whilst fitting the gauge you do something detrimental to the engine!

Sorry Dave!!
Your advice was indeed of a such a fantastic quality that it took me longer to think of a worthy response
which of course I have now forgotten due to the distress I've caused!
Thanks tho

Hi
Further to Stef's point, may I also suggest that you consider the knock on effect of any modification that you do.
eg
If you fit upgraded fast road or "race" compound brake pads, and then have a problem with your standard fit discs, you may have to whistle for your disc warranty.
Equally this modification would (probably) not affect an engine warranty claim.
etc etc etc
This is, of course, may own interpretation of the U.K. warranty and may be a load of bollxxx.
Your dealer should be able to advise you further...

Pete Croney at Scoobysports is the best man to speak to about this.
I have an MY01 that is a company car and am looking for minor mods, and he has been a fountain of knowledge as far as this is concerned. Boost gauges are offered bu Subaru UK as a dealer fit option (180 quid ish fitted). Also, Pete told me that a Scoobysport exhaust back box and mid section to take out the 2nd cat will not affect warranty either.
Whatever mods you do, make sure your insurance company know so that they cant b1tch and moan about it and refuse when you come to make a claim.

Richard,
our understanding on this matter is that you are permitted to change the following: air filter
complete exhaust system
brake discs and pads
The above mods will increase the performance of the car but not mechanically as such, i.e not making the engine work harder only allowing it to "breath" more efficiently.Hence no problems with warranty claims , obviously not, with the modified parts .These parts mentioned are notoriously difficult to make a claim on anyway ,with the usual "general wear and tear" and "these are servicable parts not covered ...."
My brother and myself have identical RB5s` with exactly these parts changed ,still fully serviced ,still with the remainder of the warranty intact.
Hope this puts your mind at rest.
