Default Hey guys first post, joined for info.

So, having purchased my first Subaru (loving it) I'm looking to upgrade.

2007 2.5 STI Hatch. (Profile pic *edit* not working atm!)

I've been looking at the AFP web site and the gains expected for stage one
are so low it's almost pointless. (If the site stats are to be believed?)

http://www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk/27671.html

I would have thought a standard 296bhp car would get over 300bhp with a
stage one upgrade??

Looking forward to the advice/input on this. Can't get hold of anyone from
afp on the phone and I hate emailing

Personally, I'd not do ANYTHING to a 2.5 without I'd had it forged.

Do a bit of research, to see why.

I would not map a 2.5 without forging it first

I've just read the engine failure thread on the 08-10's.

That's all the advice I need guys haha! Thanks.

Out of curiosity, what is the cost of the forging alone roughly?

TBH, and who am I to question Andy Forrest, you'd likely see stage 2 power with stage 1 mods.

PS, I agree with the above, forge before mapping a 2.5. Depending on where you go and what you have done £3-4k+

It's also cheaper to do it before it breaks.

Upgrade to a JDM hatch, if you can find one! They've got a 2.0L rather than the 2.5. I'd love one but they aren't exactly common.

He 's not goin to upgrade if he has just purchased it is he TBH.
What you could do m8 is get a reputable mapper to put a good clean map on her with a cat back & panel filter & updated fuel pump ...
Getting the AFR spot on & making it breath a bit better , but keeping boost low .
You will see gains , & response , with no more stress to the engines internal combustion .
Of course been a 2.5 it has a chance to fail before forging , but I'd still rather have my AfR spot on than run a factory map .

Thanks for the help guys. Tbh tho it's really put me off, especially the gains against the cost
with the worry of failure. Might just upgrade the god awful stereo!

P.S James, I meant upgrading the performane hehe

Drop Andy an email and ask his thoughts. The torque you'd gain I'd imagine would make it feel worthwhile.

Its a slippery slope john but the drive home from Andy's always makes it worth while and I've done it a few times
