Basically Dave it goes you a much lower and louder bass tone that a 'normal' speaker can do, mine is the same as the link below - you can set the tone to different levels plus control the volume independent of the head unit volume.

It is not just for boom boom music, it can improve any type of music as most in car speakers are pretty flat in bass tone.
If you like listening to music then in my opinion a subwoofer is essential to get the best listening experience.

I know that the S202 and Spec C are lightweight models but it's only a couple of kgs, I lost enough weight so I thought it more than made up for the insulation weight.

1 Step Forward, 15 Backward, 5 Sideways
Well today has been a real day of frustration of that there can be no doubt.
Everything started well enough, I removed the passenger seat and pulled up the carpet etc ready to install the subwoofer and run the cabling through the channelling and up through the carpet. Next the centre console was stripped down in order to allow access for the wiring to be run, this went well enough and thankfully nothing broke.
Next the door cards were removed in order to swop out both front speakers for uprated items, this went well enough until I found that someone had previously fitted uprated speakers along adaptor rings. This meant that the standard rings and speakers were missing which is what I had assumed would still be in place, but after a bit of sideways thinking this was adapated for and overcome.
Next the new head unit was installed, an adaptor loom was hard wired into the existing Subaru loom meaning that now head unit with a standard ISO connection can be quickly fitted. This wasn't easy though as none of the wiring matched up with any online information that I could find so every wire had to be checked for function which really added to the time taken.
When the head unit and all the wiring was finally in place it worked great for 10 seconds until it just went dead all together, all the inline, static and component fuses were checked and found to be all ok. The wiring was checked and all the permanent and ignition power feeds were found to be fine.
So it looks like the bloody head unit failed after only 10 seconds, not such a big deal but it meant that even though in it's short life that everything works as it should (in terms of the speakers, wiring and subwoofer) that it was pointless refitting all the removed centre console parts until I get another working head unit.
So off to take the head unit back to Halfrauds for an exchange and hopefully the next head unit will last longer than 10 seconds.
Apart from that everything else went ok in terms of installing the lovely looking recently refurbished STi carbon front strut brace, the STi oil filler cap and the Bosch Aero wiper blades, oh and the orange side repeater lenses as well (thanks Ian ).
At this rate and everything goes as 'well' as today then the car should be ready for RallyDay 2016.
I have also come to a deal with Ryan on some Tein bonnet dampers, Whiteline roll centre kit, Whiteline rear drop links and a Perrin anti lift kit which he just removed from his project car as he has now fitted all Summit Racing suspension components throughout his car.

Also I need to source a standard recirculating valve plus hoses etc as the car has a VTA valve fitted, I thought this was the case but I didn't check properly until today.

On a slightly different note Dave I don't suppose you have a standard factory recirculating valve there? I now know why there was a lot of turbo noise, I don't mind that but the car won't run at it's best with a VTA valve fitted.

I wish you'd said on Friday as I'd have gone back to my unit for you and opened up and got you a loom, I've got around 20 different versions of JDM loom there
I know I did have a few there, do you fancy popping in and having a look if you've got a spare 20 mins
I've also found a few WRX driveshafts, an STI diff, a WRX diff and WRX prop there recently
Dave.

The trouble was that the existing loom on the car had been chopped about anyway so I had to buy a generic loom and splice that into the car's wiring anyway.

I have been busy trying to source an alternative exhaust silencer as the P1 silencer fitted is a little too loud for my tastes, so as I could get one at a bargain price I sourced a newage STi standard silencer.
These were removed on PDI when the PPP was fitted so are like brand new, I like the design and they look virtually identical so the factory fitted classic STi item except in much better condition. Obviously one of the hanger brackets will have to be swopped about but that can be done easily enough.
Plus I made a decision on the BBS centre caps, as nice as it would be to have the genuine centre caps fitted I am perhaps a little mean in thinking that £170 is just too much for 4 plastic caps. So I ordered a set of genuine BBS centre caps in black/carbon fibre with a silver BBS logo.

Once I have put my mind to something I just want it sorted out ASAP, I am full steam at it and usually don't stop until it's sorted out.
As some will agree with I am an impatient sod, patience is not a virtue of mine.
Thanks Dave, I will try to call by tomorrow to pick it up but I will call you or send a text first.

I believe so, one of the hanger positions needs to be relocated. I think that the HKS exhaust system uses odd lengths, I have spoken to Simon and he told me that the HKS Hi-Silent silencer had to be lengthened by 3" when he had one fitted to his UK classic.
