Sorry to sound a bit dim, but for £70 I can get the Sky F1 channel?

It is true (Im not selling them either and the link I put up isn't any one that I know or associate with in any way)

I got told about them by a friend who has one so I looked into it, They are the same as apple tv but a fraction of the cost,

I have the basic Sky package and have on top of that the Sky Entertainment pack (kids Disney channels etc.) and the HD package for the F1. I pay £33.75 for that lot.

If I was to buy one of these boxes would I get the Sky channels I already have?

I wouldn't miss half the channels but it's the PVR functions and UI of the Sky box I would struggle without.
I've tried a freeview PVR but it just felt so clunky.

I cancelled my sky contract as it was not worth the money. To not be able to watch the programs that you recorded is a cheek.

I heard if you disconnect the box for a couple of weeks you retain your recordings.

These Android boxes use IceFilms from memory and pretty certain it's not legal. They are essentially pirated shares of films that are streamed over the net.

Personally I'd say pay for Netflix and use Freesat via your old dish

Can you get the discovery channels anywhere else though? I like having them for wheeler dealers, car is born, all the American bike and hot rod build stuff. I also love hardcore pawn on living hd.

Interesting thread. Would that android box in the eBay link only be suitable if you have decent internet and/or a windows PC?

Plus that eBay box isn't guaranteed to work next year/month/week/tomorrow.

I had to set one of those up, what a fecking pain in the **** and that was without getting the free channels. That's not a replacement for Sky, that's a replacement for watching TV, a whole hobby in itself.

True Jack , there's plenty more on offer than just sky if you have a motorised dish. I get all the sky channels plus it picks up 19 other satalites at the last count

Thinking of ditching Sky too.

Anyone use the Humax HDR-1000S - or are there better Freesat boxes out there?

XBMC is a free download for Linux & Raspberry pi

i have it on my Pi

You need to know the feeds to stream from, and as has bee said allready they may not be 100% legit

That said, there are some interesting direct very educational feeds out there

the android boxes all run xbmc with navi-x installed, you can do it on jb iphone/ipad or android aswell as your phone or pc,

personally from using it- no it wont replace sky... i have 7mg broadband and while it streams things like nhl the premierleague links always seem to be down and some films dont buffer.

the quality on some stuff is pants, others agian like the hockey good enough on ipad/pc dont know about a 42" plasma though

If you have mash up tv add on installed onto xbmc then that's where all best ones are
