Default Just cancelled Sky

I have Sky tv but I don't watch many channels and my family and friends discount is ending so its going to double to £37 a month. They tried to offer me a similar package for £28 a month.

I said just cancel the package and if I decide to go ahead with their offer I would ring up and take it but I was told its a once only offer. I pay £18 a month now and to offer me a deal at £28 isn't exactly enticing.

I said just to cancel it and the only thing they say make you reconsider is that your sky plus hard drive will be erased Errr see ya

Been thinking about cancelling my virgin for quite a while now,it don't really watch most of the channels, and the things I do watch like Dave, are mostly repeats.even channels like discovery, nat geo are lacking in excitement now.with the broadband etc,I must be paying about £70.00 a month now.its only the broadband and phone that really get used, but that's only mainly on the weekend when at home.
Got to keep the broadband though for Xbox live...

There is life after Sky TV packages.

A friend of mine cancelled their Sky package as they were paying £79/month! He also said the his household was much quieter as the kids had stopped arguing over which channels to watch!

Dave is on free view, to be honest I only got Sky in so I had the proper dish fitted as I will be getting freesat, probably a Humax box

Freeview and Netflix work well for me.

Been thinking about free view, but when I've tried it in the past most of the channels are made up radio stations, and then it seems to be hit and miss what channels you actually can get a signal with, fecking Al Jazeera or something.
I suppose if looked into having done properly it may be worth it.

i phoned sky to enquire about there fibre optic broad band, i repeatedly told them it was a price enquirey and guess what, 2 days later a letter in the post thanking me for the upgrade, after many hours on the phone to them trying to cancel it , I finally got onto a semi helpful operator who managed to cancel it for me, they even had the cheek to try and charge me for it, so i think its time to say 'bye bye' sky

So, what are you going to do? Get a Freeview box? I'm asking because I may cancel mine. I don't know yet, but we aren't telly addicts here. Out of the house most times apart from some time over the weekend. Waste of money to keep it going tbh.

I was going to cancel my sky package too because its really just not worth it, but it's such a ballache trying to get a decent tv and broadband deal here.
Decided to keep basic sky and just cancel the multi room subscription, and hooked that tv up to mains aerial and got freeview.
I do like the on demand stuff and occasionally watch a few sky channels that aren't on freeview, but it's really **** poor.

Crazy amounts of money being paid by some on here IMHO of course. I just pay my TV licence and have a £5 a month unlimited Orange broadband package @ around 10MBps. I use both freesat and freeview and there is more than enough to watch.

I would cancel Sky but I watch F1.

I have F1 with my HD pack. If I cancel Sky, if I ever want it again I'll have to have Sky Sports in order to get the F1.

My in-laws have one of these "Sky-Box" things that uses their internet connection for all Sky channels. They pay like £50 a year for everything. The old man swears down its legal, even telling me the local Sky engineer said its legal and Sky can't stop it.

Looks like ceefax on screen but they get all the shame channels as me and I pay £70 (Sky HD, extra pack, 2X multiroom, Movies)
