I wonder what sort of abuse and profanities I'll suffer for posting this!!

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/e...in-Europe.html

Research shows the UK will become the largest economy in Europe by 2030! The positive news just keeps trickling through.

A good end to the year for my mate George!

I'd like to wish all those loyal citizens of the UK who will help us build up this economy a Merry Christmas

The year 2030 probably coincides with when he'll finally leave the UK

I don't believe a word of it TBH.

Shame on both of you!

You are not allowed to report good news on here if it concerns the U.K.

We ARE booming again...if you only look at figures for London and the SE.

Last month they anounced record falls in the jobless totals...yet in Yorkshire, Humberside, the NE and the NW the totals went UP again for the fourth month running.

Humberside now has nearly 9% unemployed. And every couple of weeks another factory closes in Grimsby, or the steelworks sheds yet more jobs.

If you want to see part of the reason, visit the new Eastern European states that joined the EC a few years back now. The EC has ploughed €billions in to them. They have all brand new factories with SOFTA production lines and hey...guess where lots of companies are now moving their production to?

We are literally cutting our own throats. We were unbelievably stupid to allow these states into the EC. It was pressure from the USA that carried it, of course........

I think he said that the recovery was not yet balance or sustainable.

There is a recovery underway though, it's certainly not perfect and it's certainly not reached lots of people yet. The economy is still smaller than it was is 2008.

That doesn't mean that there isn't a recovery taking place though - I certainly wouldn't describe this as a 'boom' yet

That might be true.

But it's also true that there has never been a recovery that hasn't been driven by consumer spending

The messages from society's opinion-makers are: Be Responsible! Don't start smoking! Don't get fat by eating junk food! Get more exercise! Don't be an alcoholic! Save your money and don't waste it on coffee and chocolate bars and movies! And last but not least: Don't have kids if you can't support them!!!

But in reality this is impossible because if everyone was a responsible citizen and followed these admonitions, then the economy would collapse.

The worst citizen, in terms of the economy, is one who is "responsible."
They don't have children, don't watch TV, don't buy music, don't waste their money at coffee shops, movie theatres, bars or shopping malls.
They only eat low-cost unprocessed, healthy food like brown rice, oatmeal, beans, lentils, and vegetables. So in essence super healthy.
They walk or bike and use public transit and the public library.
They don't become addicted to unhealthy substances and they rarely need any health care. They are a scourge on the economy, and an enemy to job creation.

Are you saying that men in high positions of power are not capable of criminal activity and telling lies to the general public? Are you really that naive lol
