Default Thank god ***** and Gordong aren't in charge

George's autumn statement...

Growth up. There was NO double dip recession let alone a triple dip

Unemployment down

Deficit down

Borrowing down

Can you imagine the carnage if Gordong, ***** or Milliband were in charge??

The only black cloud is that he is not reporting a fall in the number of trance appreciators.

There was a double dip 2011 Q4 - 2012 Q2.

As for the rest of it yes we are in a better position than I expect we would be had *****/Brown been in charge, but we are still not going to start reducing the debt until 2020 and outside of London and the SE the growth is less evident or not there at all (not that you will personally give a **** about that).

We also have a huge problem with poverty and personal debt that they (all parties) seem to deliberately ignore.

That and no one will deal with the welfare state's ludicrous drain on the country's finances!

Don't be so harsh.
Gordon did some wonderful things.
Who can forget the rise of the PCTs under his aegis?
In our dotage, it will be another case of - What have the Romans ever done for us?

Not much, if any, growth is evident in the Humberside and NE areas.

But what would government care about us?

If you only care about the 5 year election cycle, good news.
If you care about our long term future................thats another story.

It seems apparent to me that Humberside, both north and south bank are pinning their hopes on offshore wind, the manufacturer and ongoing support of. It’s now three years since Siemens expressed an interest in opening a factory in Hull, and yet still nothing. Surely there has to come a time where it is no longer viable to go to the expense of building and opening a manufacturing plant since the North Sea will already be full of windmills?

There is, AFAIK a shortage of civil aircraft manufacturing facilities in the UK and Europe, but it looks like the chance of doing something at Brough has been squandered, instead the place will eventually be turned in to housing estate, as the place limps on to a slow and gradual death.

That leaves us with Caravans 

How anyone can think that labour did anything but wreck this country is beyond my comprehension.

They should be trialled for treason and forced to disband for gross incompetence TBH, they should never have the opportunity to govern this country again, yes they we're actually that bad.

If you want to see how the UK would look now had Mili-***** got in, take a good look at France, a second downgrade in less than 2 years to a S&P rating of AA.

Trouble is we were all saying that about the Conservatives in 1997.

What is beyond my comprehension is how people like pflowers (not singling him out, but his is the last post to say it, there are plenty more on here) can really think the mess we're in now is all down to one political party rather than a hsitory of poor governments and a lack of proper investment in UK society for at least 40 years and probably longer!

I think people like him pin their hopes on it being all down to a single government as they don't want to face the truth that all politicians are greedy self serving pigs at the trough, much of the population are now laden with no work ethic and a huge sense of entitlement because of those governments and as a country in the medium to long term we are utterly f**ked!

With a bit of luck I will be sat in Aus in a couple of years time and can watch the meltdown from afar. You will have to accept my apologies if I don't shed too many tears!

Yup I agree it isn't just Labour like you say but a succession of poor governments, but to me Labour has done the most damage by far.

Problem is there is very little difference between each party nowadays they all seem to say the same things and stand for the same policies the EU this, the Enviroment that and lots of other things the average Joe on the street dosent really give to flying ***** about.

I'm seeing on the news daily now we're now past the worst of it and the future is all Rosy again, call me a cynic but I'm not believing it. If the future is so bright and good why are we about to sell off our 40% (I think) share of Euro tunnel?

The ignorance on this thread is.................well, i just give up.

If i was a banker i would be laughing my **** off. They nearly force a collapse of the banking system, then someone else gets the blame.

As Thatcher did they are asset stripping the country and deliberately selling these outfits off for way less than their market value so all the little people buying shares and making a couple of hundred quid think they are wonderful and vote for them! Sickening!

No we definitely were! You as a blind supporter of anything with a blue rosette may not have been, but most neutrals and normal people were!

I agree 100%.

I honestly believe no party can sort the mess out properly, as a country we are doomed, it's too late.

I really don't agree with this.

Labour did many good things in office, they were just in office too long for the good of the country and themselves!
