Make no mistake, a mint 22B with 25K on the clock is very rare and will only increase in value. Like you say, subaru offered other variants with much lower build numbers but none quite as desirable as the 22B.
Overrated or not, its an iconic car that real impreza enthusiasts like myself dream of owning.
It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if it sold fairly quickly for very near the asking price. As I said earlier, if you want a mint, original uber low mile example then you don't have much choice. Unlike every other impreza, with a 22B its a sellers market not a buyers.
Of course I've driven one otherwise I wouldn't be in a position to say it's overrated. I haven't questioned whether it will appreciate over time as there's no doubt it will, my point is as mantazini above me has pointed out it's no better than your standard RA or R of the same era therefore it's overrated and overpriced. The extra cost over a type R/RA isn't justified. I'm pretty sure over a lap it actually works out slower than an R (even though it's an R underneath those flared arches ).

For me, personally, it is slightly over priced. For that price that should be a UK car. It does look in good condition and if it was nearer £28-30k then it would be a good appreciating asset.

As for performance, yes there are better Impreza's but none look as good as this.

Sold you say; shame.

What issues might there be with the vehicle been stored for so long? What would you do to get it back on the road?

The fact its sold would suggest it's not over priced.

Cars, like everything else are only worth what someone is willing to pay.

I'm sure they wouldn't have sold it for it's asking price. £35k is a good asking price but unless your: A. Well off or B. A little but daft you wouldn't pay that for it.

Its working on the back of the future classic idealism. Evo magazine have been reporting how a lot of money is now being spent on 'cheaper' super cars that will increase in value, as for the first time in a long time, higher value super cars are losing value. Plus with last months report of the greatness of a 22B, many non Subaru enthusiasts would be interested..and as they are so rare, the price is set by that.

35k is steep to us, but someone who has been spending that sort of money on 911's over the years will think its pocket change for the machine that they get (and live with the crummy interior!)

Anybody who thinks 22B's are overpriced just doesn't get it.
Its got nothing to do with how quick they are or how fast they get round a track. There are many other impreza models that are better at that than a 22B.

Bottom line is this one is overpriced!! In the grand scheme of 22B's previously sold this is top whack low mileage UK car money.

But if someone out there right now wanted a mint, original, uber low mile 22B they haven't exactly got lots to choose from.
Find another one.......

I don't doubt it buddy and you are the man to know the in's and outs of it but if I was spending circa 35K on a 15 year old subaru I'd want to go see, touch and drive it before committing to anything.

I would love to have one in garage, but if it was a tossup between that and a GTR, the GTR would win everytime for 35k

Precisely. It's all about the aura that surrounds them.

A Spec C would run rings around a 22b, but who the hell cares about that. How many Subaru enthusiasts would rather have a Spec C in the garage than a 22b?

I'm not a 22B fan, but i'd definitely go for one over a GTR because your only going to lose money on a £35k GTR over 2/3yrs probably circa £10k and the running costs at that price point are going to be high.

The 22B on the other hand will only go up in value or remain the same over a similar period, and has standard subaru running costs.
