im assuming you want a 56 plate to beat the tax hike, issue is there pretty damn rare cos it was a short window.

Significantly overpriced.

It might be a 2012 Import but it's a 2006/7 model AND it hasn't got an STi spoiler.

There could be reasons for that but that's way over the odds when you consider the T20 and T25's he's had on offer.

In relative terms is that worth nearly £13k compared to this:

or this:

Type 20

RB320's are only a couple of thou dearer as well.

I agree over the odds and did take note of the spoiler, not sure of reasons behind that one and think it spoils the traditional look of the car. Not the end of the world though? I just don't know enough about imports.

loving the type 20 but this seems really specialist for me as a first Scooby to own and way over my budget - beautiful cars, both of them. Spec C looks more in the bracket I am looking for. I will take a closer look tomorrow, thanks

55 plate hawkeye or a 06 plate hawkeye to beat the high road tax!!!

Dangermouse1607 £10k budget can get you a good car, my mate bought a 55 plate JDM hawk with 47k miles on the clock for around that price!! But I think you will be pushed to find a white Hawk or blob(JDM or UK) for that budget as they seem to carry a premium!!

If you want reliability and a decent first scooby, you cant go wrong with a 05/55 plate UK widetrack blobeye STi, and for £10k you should be able to get a mint one, maybe even have a bit of money left over which always helps with petrol when you first pick it up as you will no doubt you will use loads in the first couple of weeks!

I agree with that.

Just a small point, not all 06 plates are lower tax bracket.
It's for cars registered before April 1st 06 I think.
The obvious way to find out is to look at the disc on the car you view.

For some reason it seems to be a selling point, since most of those cars seem to have "Lower tax bracket" in their ads.

That must have been Budget Day that year then

My point was that the general assumption should be that an 06 is full fat (I like that expression) and it's a bonus if isn't.

That would rarely happen:

1) Someone would have to be in exactly the same position as you ie. looking, cash available (no car to sell, or already sold);
2) They would possibly also have posted on here, even if it was a 'I'm looking at this car' post;
3) They would probably make an offer but if the seller knew another person was interested they'd wait until you'd also viewed, so you'd still get a chance, albeit having to go nearer the asking price;
4) You're a lady, and Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned......

I got a 2006 Hawk WRX only mods are brakes, handling upgrades and after-market backbox and centre pipe. Its on 71k and serviced every year and it hasn't missed a beat no sign of headgasket or ringland failure at all and i don't drive like miss daisy.

I sometimes wonder if all the slagging off of the 2.5 is just down to peoples misfortune or scare mongering. I have read the threads about the 2.5 before anyone says anything

Same stigma that early import classic and P1's went bang, a lot did but not every one did. I see it like a lottery, if its going to happen it will happen, nothing I can do about it.

£250 a year in your pocket rather than the taxmans for a like for like car is, i would say, a big selling point.

Reason I bought my Hawk was for the cheaper tax, No point driving the same car but paying the extra £200 a year!! I haven't got money to throw away, wish I did but I sure wouldn't want it to be in the governments pocket as they have enough money from me during the year!!
