I must say that I've been looking at Evo 8's and they are looking pretty nice especially the MR models.
I know a few on here have owned them, what are your thoughts and how do they compare to Impreza's?

Awww FFS. I was expecting to be reading of the new S202 and it's all gone to hell in a hand cart. You change your cars more times than I have in the last few years.
Just take the HRT and be done with you fecking edjit. Or are you just attention seeking? Get off that fewking diet, eat real food and get both your brains cells lined up and be done with it!
I give up

Bloody HRT, I'm the modicum of level headedness and logical thinking, the cheek.

Anyway, who just bought himself a WRX RA after saying the MX5 was for life and you definitely wouldn't be buying another Impreza any time soon.

Nothing is decided, just weighing up my options.
Oh and the Subaru wind deflectors I ordered arrived today as well.

Thanks Ian for the pep talk, it's really opened my eyes.

Anyway, if the gold bomb piles in another Mixer could be the daily. It's Matt's fault for giving me a lift to the Pod in his RA, so there!

Nice car Stu but (and it's a big one) if my S202 does go then it definitely would be for another marque to take it's place, I'm just disillusioned with everything Subaru related at the moment.
I think that it's time to try something else, it's not one thing I can put my finger on but lots of smaller thoughts which have come to the fore and being without a usable car for so long hasn't helped either.

I have never been a mk1 Escort fan myself, now a mk2 Escort and that is a different matter - not sure if I would get one but the RS2000 and RS Harrier do appeal to me.
Having owned various mk2 Escorts in the past though and as I haven't driven one in a long time I wonder if the car and my memories would live up to expectations?
I can't believe its 20 years since I owned a Mk1 RS2000...!

In terms of speed no, IMO if you want speed from an old skool ford it needs a YB. A friend of mine has an S2 RS Turbo converted to RWD with a 2.1 pinto and 45's......Sounds awesome as the pinto and carbscarbs always do but its sh*t slow.....Funnily enough he is half way through his MK1 ej20 project and has a Mk2 in his garage with a YB..

Whereas I've matured well over the years.

Well after taking on board some advice given I went to see the car today and took it for a spirited drive to see if my opinion of it had changed.
I took it for a drive on a relatively long stretch of private road and 'gave it the beans' and I have to say I now know why I bought the car.
It handles so much better than even my Blobeye Spec C did, like it's on rails almost and the way it accelerates as a point to point car it feels quicker than my Spec C did before it got broken.
So it is full steam ahead with the servicing, brakes, paintwork and modifications.
Forget my posts from last weekend to this one, think of it like when Bobby Ewing stepped out of the shower and none of what previously happened ever took place.

And to give the car a good drive, driving it back from Leeds as it was all motorway, dual carriageway and congested A roads I really didn't get a chance to drive it 'properly'.
Thanks Simon.

Thanks Simon.
and I'm itching now ready to go, the break has done me good but damn I am ready to get on the road again when the weather changes in some order
and when I drove to rally day it was a steady plod for obvious reasons so I'm yet to give the RA a good run.
