It's the usual suspects on every Apple thread. As long as you ignore those trolling and biting posts then there is some discussion. Only some mind you.

So do you to be fair, when JC pops in and you feel the need to back him up at any and every opportunity, like a shepherd leading his flock

Andyroid just balances the threads out really, he's not doing any harm

Personally I think iOS7 looks god awful, like it's been thrown together at the last minute in some desperate attempt to meet a deadline. There's absolutely no professional look to it at all, I mean seriously, if you were in a meeting and you pulled out the pastel paradise that is the iOS7 homescreen people would think you were weak in the head. The worst part is that until a jailbreak for it comes out there will be nothing anyone can do about it.

Before I get attacked for being an android fanboy, I own an iphone 5 and a retina ipad.

Will there be any performance degradation for low spec iPhones? I have the iPhone 4 which is the bare minimum. I only ask as I wish I stayed on iOS 5.1.1 instead of upgrading to iOS 6.x.

All earlier iPhones will take a performance hit and probably won't get all the features available for the latest phone just like all the other iOS updates.
Doesn't affect me now sadly. After 5, yes 5! visits to the Apple store with various issues and one replacement (costing me £119) my iPhone 4 won't recognise there's a battery in it, or at least, doesn't display the charge % changing unless you hard reset.
Unfortunately, despite having a new battery fitted and upgrading to the latest firmware etc, it's not fixed so unless I pay them another £119 I'm stuck with a glorified iPod that stays in the dock on the Zeppelin now.

I'm sure you'll be able to change/customise the theme slightly to give it different/darker colours?

I assume if you upgrade to 7 and don't like, you can't revert back to 6?

Yes you can, Apple are still signing 6.1.x depending on phone model. You have to download the software

http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/

When you want to revert back if using windows you hold the shift key and click retore then choose the IPSW you want. If using mac same applies apart from you hold down the ALT key.

correct, it is still in beta and will change over the next few months and even then you will have the ability to customise it

Some good articles floating around about how it may be a shock to many, but the same shock was felt when Apple introduced Aqua in OSX and how over the years that has been refined

Early days and all that

I've been running it on and iPhone 4 and iPhone 5. It is very bright and somewhat cartoon like.

It is correct that some of the UI elements won't be present on lower end devices. For example, the dynamic backgrounds aren't on iPhone 4.

I was hoping the 4 would be dropped, but I guess with that being the zero dollar phone on a 2 or 3 year contract, it would upset quite a few people (same reason why the 3GS is able to run iOS 6, and why the iPad does not)

Only for iPhone 4 and up at present. I suspect seed 2 will be for all compatible devices.

Would I be correct in thinking that you're not downloading these from the developer portal?

Yes Markus you are correct. I'm not downloading them from the portal. I'm just an apple fan really. Not a developer. Would like to be just not savvi enough.

Release is almost here, I wonder who will be brave (stupid) enough to download it before waiting for any problems to emerge.

I have had it on since beta 1. It's now very stable. No bug showing up at the minute. I'm running the GM release at the minute. Loads of apps updated today which has made it good.

It's not yet available for gen-pop

I cite Apple's last big release, which went down like a lead balloon, the one with Apple maps etc.

Best to wait a few days and see what gets reported I find.
