Apple/iphone/Android trollfest. Enter at own risk, bring popcorn!
Sorry to do this, but I need help. I don't want to start off a slanging match.
For the record, I have an iPad Macbook Air, and iPod touch, which I love, but don't think I can justify paying stupid money for an iPhone. Most important thing for me is battery life and camera. At the moment I'm on a sim only tariff with O2. I'd just like some opinions please, as Mr OS is nagging me to go for the 4S, but I'm not sure it's worth it.

£700??? Are you mad???
I don't even use my full quota on my £10 sim! If I did go for 4S, it would be the cheapest one.

With the new ICloud facility it would be wise to get an iPhone so all your devices stay linked to share apps, photos etc, that's my opinion but I'm sure you have just stoked the anti iPhone brigade back up

For a phone that has a crap battery life, looks plasticky, has slow CPU speeds, too small a screen etc etc. But if, like the rest of the sheep your taken in by the Apple hype then buy one if it makes you happy.

I watched a recent episode of Gadget Show earlier and the iPhone 4S came out best of the most recent smartphones for battery life, but came second overall to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. So might be worth considering that?
Personally, if your life is filled with Apple stuff, why stop there, go for the iPhone and if you want a good PAYG sim, check out giffgaff, you can get 250mins, unlimited texts and unlimited data for a tenner a month >>> http://www.best-payg-deals.co.uk

If you have all the other apple stuff, go for it!
I wouldn't but that is me, I don't have anything apple and I hate full touchscreen phones, I use a HTC with 47 buttons as it is what suits me best

I've been looking at outright purchasing either a 4S, S2 or Nexus but I'm in all honesty going for a 4S as it'll be easy to move all my apps, music, contacts etc and easy to synch between my iPad, iPhone and desktop.
But there's no doubt the Samsung offerings are very good and if I hadn't of spent so much on apps & music with Apple then the choice might be a lot harder to make.

It's just that Mr OS is trying to bully me into getting a 4S, because his son has just got one, so all of a sudden, they're the greatest thing since sliced bread!
According to my calculations.......(but I'm crap at sums ), the battery life on a Galaxy is better than the 4S. For the record, at the moment I've got an Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro, which I hate with a passion! The battery life is dire!

The iphone is nowhere to be seen in the GSM arena rankings compared to the Samsung or Sony Ericsson.
I am looking at the Samsung Galaxy Note as a stop gap before quad core android phones arrive next year (3 days away)
If you can hang fire for a few weeks you will get to know what the next wave of smart phones will have. 12m pixel cameras, multi core processors, super high res screens, and better battery life, allegedly

Just bought a Samsung Galaxy ACE @ £119 at CarFone W-House... put my TESCO (o2) Sim in it very pleased.. so far.
Just couldn't justify £400+ on an iPhone.
The Samsung seems to do all i need... plentyof Apps and I can speak my TXT into it. It does facebook too

For the record.....FACT...The battery isn't crap,it doesn't look cheap and plastic whatsoever!! And if you use it right, its fast...For people who have one try this...Press the home button fast (button at bottom) you will see all the apps you have open, clich and hold the first one till you delete all the open apps..
FACT,people you slate the iPhone can't afford one, what's 700 quid,I have had two iPhone 4s's as I dropped my first one of a mutli storey car park by mistake,so I went and bought one sim free untill the Halifax coughed up the 700 quid,no worries!

i have both an iphone 4 and a samsung galaxy S2.
The iphone outperforms the Galaxy S2 for battery life and wireless reception. Then apart from advantage of facetime on the iphone thats the key differences.
Of course Galaxy S2 has bigger screen and opens flash.
I have both, but if i chose one it would be the iphone all the way, as it is better all rounder.

And just to be a nit picker, people who use the Tesco sim card's ARE cheap skates, they offer no network services like call waiting, diversion etc as the network doesn't support it,why ?..It sits on the old o2 network !!! So these sim cards are for the cheap wanna be's with a 10 quid phone !!

This is going the way of these threads with the usual posts being made.
To the OP:
It really comes down to personal choice; try both flavours of smartphone and see what you prefer.

And if you don't mind the iPhone 4 there are some good deals on these as well, same with the S2 as they aren't the whizz bang current offerings.
