The 2013-2014 Manchester United Thread
Happy with the result last night as well as some good attacking play at times, Kagawa deserves and needs a run in the first team. Phil Jones still tackling like Scholes
and a lovely finish from Hernandez, all in all a happy evening in the pub
Once Moyes knows his best team things will start to improve, he's getting there...
Definitely needs more time, Fergies first few years were hard, but look at what he achieved with bright up and coming talent, wise buys (snatches included) and staff that were loyal..except Brian Kidd
Moyes will get the time, he was chosen as the water in the 20 mile radius of Glasgow has bred a few good managers, sorry a few legends including:

man u fans simply have to accept they have an average manger - that's the long tall and short of it
SAL was exceptional, like Wenger - but history, and life tells us, they are few and far between
the problem Man U has is "leveraged finance" - it took Lehman's down in a weekend
they cannot afford a couple of poor performing years - it screws the financial model

The really expensive PIK debts have been paid off now, and with debt going from north of £800m to £300m odd in 3 years its heading in the right direction. Another £45m per annum of sponsorship kicks in next year as well.
In addition, given that United's probable value, if sold to a wealthy sheikh or whoever, would be well north of £1.5bn, then the debt isn't exceptional.
I would still prefer it not to be there obviously, but its well past the worst now.
Not really true any more - for example : United's debt/revenues position (gross £368m with revenues of £355m) is almost identical to poster boy Arsenal's (£246m with revenues of £235m).

and they do look in better financial shape, but boy Man U have paid the Glaziers a fortune in the last 10 odd years for the priviledge
when leverage finance really works it is a thing of beauty, and the Glaziers do seem to have pulled it off
a testiment to the cash generating power of Man United
Exactly- and, yep, the yankee gnomes have done extremely well out of it :Grrr: .
The next problem will be that people believe that when the debt is finally gone then suddenly there'll be hundreds of millions to spend on players. No there won't - there'll be hundreds of million spent on dividends for the shareholders...
Still that's no different to what some of the other club shareholders out there are dreaming of - although the liverpool boys will be waiting a few years to see even a sausage heading back across the Atlantic

Baines rumours are back again, maybe they'll accept a swap deal for Fellani
Also noticed that Rooney and RVP didn't look the best of pals either
I wouldn't write off a top 4 place just yet......

We looked a lot more fluid last night with the youngsters. Januzaj impresses me more and more with each game he plays and seems comfortable on either side. We just need our defence to stop leaking goals.
Pretty drab performance last night until RvP came on. Young up to his usual antics. Fellaini looks like he has attended the Scholes school of tackling. So far less than impressed by him.

(have to be smug whilst I can being a Gooner
