I tell you what guys, Eagle F1 Assym 2's last for a very long time indeed!

I put them on two years ago when I bought my STI and after 12,000 miles I've still got around 4mm left on all four tyres. They're all wearing evenly, as I rotate them every 6000 miles.

I was going to buy Michelin Pilot Super Sports in 235/40/18, but it seems they dont come in this size, however Michelin Pilot 3 do.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports are available in 225/40/18, would you guys go for the ps3 in 235/40/18, or Super Sports in 225/40/18?

How does a wider tyre affect handling, and would a thinner, more expensive super sport provide superior performance over the wider ps3?

there is never going to be a "best tyre" as it all depends on the driver and car due to me probably using nearly every tyre out there at some point , i have found that some of the lesser brands out perform the bigger brands for my style of driving . and as i stated in the second post i have found great confidence in the vredestein and the falken brands , good on the money and a good alrounders in the wet/dry

conti 5s are good but soft as hell
bridgestones better wearing but noisy as hell
pirelli p zero again soft /grippy but didnt feel over confident when pushed hard
michellin ps3s good but not as good as ps2s imo which are hard to get , supersports are good , testing them on our audi a6 at the mo and seem to be good but ££££
dunlop spmaxx gt.tt,rt all great tyres rt,gt bein e better , came standard on the audi
goodyear eagle f1 assym , wicked tyres good in wet and gave good wear car felt planted but some road noise .
yokohama parada , again great tyre in dry , not great in wet but last for ages lol
vredestein , cant fault them
falken , again cant fault , do wear abit quicker but great fast road tyre
budgets , ok for the ocasional blast but not the best option

Hmmmmmmmmmm
I tried Michelin PS2's on my old 05STI.
They were destroyed in just over 5K - far to soft I found.

I,ve had Michelin PS3,s on my 05 JDM Sti, great in the wet and the dry. Just replaced the fronts after about 12000 miles. The rears still have about 4-5 mil left. Would recommend , though they are quite expensive. Steve.

Thanks for that account, think I will take a gamble on the Ps3's, from what Ive read a wider tyre should provide more grip than the super sport.
