LOL......!!!!!

Just read this thread.

Ditch, if you could of got an STI in the wagon form you desired would you of bought one or stuck with the WRX ?? Honestly.

Also, if any of you can match those 0-60 times in your WRX I'll go out and buy one tomorrow and join in the "wrx is better" debate :-)

Well all i can say is when i bought my first WRX in 04 i had the cash to buy the STI and took one out and decided it was too harsh for what i wanted it for, which was work, and around 1000 miles a week.

But to be honest with what i know now and my situation now, If they did a same spec STI wagon, then yes i would have one, i'm not stupid.

I just don't like the way the STI fanboys try and ride the WRX, especially in the face of the facts.

The STI is always going to be the better base for mods because it's stronger, but in the real world it's really not a better daily, for me but i like most would put up with the crashy ride and dodgy gearing because i could mod it to 450 bhp and rag the **** off it at the weekend on track.

At the end of the day i'm a subaru fan and the compromise i have to make is that i need a wagon so i run the next best thing, which by an amusing coincidence happens to be faster than a standard STI.

It just makes me p1ss that those that have an STI can't handle that, and spout all sorts to prove otherwise when the numbers speak for themselves, to be fair i knew i'd hook tubbs, was just hoping to get a few others as well, but they are obviously smarter than he is.

edit to add; i never said it was better, just faster in a given situation.

where did you hook me? i had a wrx and never once did i say i dont like them, just said in my opinion they are not as fast as an sti

as i bought mine to modify it would be a pointless waste of money to start with a wrx really due to its weakness in gearbox and other departments

it is a more comfortable drive, but to buy an impreza for a comfortable drive must confirm your an idiot.

Lol the only one that made themselves look an idiot was you, but we've all come to expect that from you.

I'll leave you alone now, it's so easy it's not fun anymore.

a standard uk2000 simply isn't a quick car.... a clio 182 would eat one even on back roads as unless set up for it a scoob isn't that great in a back road bashing either imo. get the wallet out and get upgrading

i actually quite like the drive by wire and facility to add flat foot shifting also a rebuilt 2.5 is a nice torquey engine.

its just the poor quality and reliability of the standard engine i think is a joke.

you know a standard 2.5 is ****, you have the bill to prove it

Nope DBW feels detatched regardless of how it's mapped it's one of the worst things Subaru did to the Impreza. Never liked mine before or after, left me cold wanting more mechanical feedback

They aint the best if you turn up the juice like i did. Sign of the times unfortunately mate. It is a shame subaru didnt put more quality into it because it really is a great engine for a road car. But as Alan Jeffery said, its like the ford cosworths, us owners just cant leave them alone and thats where most of the problems stem from. I cant think of many things these days that are built to last or built with owner modification in mind.

I like mine and do not feel detached at all. I find it very linier and precise. I did once own an Omega 2.5 (BMW lump) and the DBW on that was sh1te.

Agree, a standard classic is far from good in the bends. They have good traction but they don't handle well.
Get the wallet out and the whiteline catalogue and it can be transformed though.

done two track days in my classic slag and yet to be beat by a clio. currently keeping up with m3's n 911's. It is currently a 2.0L TD04 with uprated fuel pump n a remapped z4 ecu. First time out we kicked the ***** of two newage imprezas (surprised)....I was. Had a day at Oulton where we again whipped round without shame. either i'm an amazing driver or the old slag has something still to offer?? Slightly washy at the front has lead to fitting coil overs. My desire for more power has made me buy and rebuild a TD05 16g turbo. 440 injectors. Remap imminent, then she will eat M3's and close the mouths of most non believers. Anyone who cares to non believe can head out mid april for a blast off!!!

If you buy the right Sti the WRX is still slower

Spec C doesn't count in this discussion, it's a track biased car, just remind us what you paid to be one second in front of my £4k car.
