I've also got one of these that's been sat under the bed for the last 12 months waiting to get it fitted!
I'll be taking it to a bodyshop to do, if I ask them to use rivnuts rather than ordinary bolts does that mean it can be done from the outside of the car without needing to gain access to the interior of the rear pillars?
a rivnut is a rivet with a thread in it.
once the hole is drilled the rivet is inserted and a bolt can be screwed into it.
no access needed from behind and very simple and safe
Out of interest how much are the genuine ones from 1) a dealer and 2) when they pop up on ebay?
dealer sill money, breakers about £150 to £200.
the problem with a lot of ebay tat ones is they either fit bad or sag in the middle.
look at the pictures in the thread and you will see the genuine is also curved to the rear screen and is alli so wont sag.
a lot of the cheapies are flat and not curved too.
mine has been glued on for 2 years now its not genuine but fits perfect
i am swapping it for a carbon one
so if it comes off in one piece it will be up for grabs
It's a one piece carbon fibre one so I couldn't use a rivnut I'd have to drill through an bolt it from inside, spoke to a few people who bonded it on an there's is stuck for good one has had he's on for 4 years so far an hasn't moved
They do but I would like to see them in anthracite or silver. I dont personally like black or white wheels.
they did suit the car when it had the decals on
but just want them off now
car is going in for a makeover next week with ryan (prodriverules)
new wheels may be more to your taste
To dig this old post up, I'm going to fit a one-piece Carbon affair to the blobeye. What should I do as well as just drilling a couple of holes and bolting? What would you use to protect the interior of the panels from moisture?

take it to ryan (prodriveplops) or jeff at c&k motors Leominster they will sort it for you
Don't use glue on it, it won't last. Grasp your nuts firmly and drill some holes in the car. If you use rivet nuts then you don't need access to the inside either. Simple job if done right!

Excuse my ignorance here but by using rivnuts I can't see how it would fix. The spoiler has 4 threaded holes in it already so it seems I would have to bolt from inside the car?
Dave, I feel your pain, I certainly won't be doing that mate!
Yep, as Jack says, use rivnuts on a genuine one. If yours has female threads in the spoiler it's non genuine and can only be fitted from the inside out.

Good luck with that.
Thanks lol! I'll take the interior panels off and have a look... Might be a stick and hope job then.
