You are both falling into the trap of treating something as not being normal just becuase it's not what the majority of people do and to be honest not what you do.

As Telboy said yesterday "You fundamentally fail to grasp that homosexuality is a combination of nature and nurture, not a lifestyle choice. Until you comprehend that basic fact of sexuality in humans, any further debate is futile."

This somes it up in a nutshell.

Now Dunk you seem like a decent enough chap on here and obviously have some brains so please try and grasp what Telbiy has said there as it's the truth. I am not saying you have to like it as you are entitled to your opinion, but please don't treat it as some abomination of the species because it isn't and really what harm is it doing to you? Be honest now!

No you're moving into the definition of 'normal'.

Is it natural? Yes in that it is not a trait exclusive to humans.
Is it usual? Not really, it's a small minority.
Is it 'intended behaviour'? No, genitals/physical attraction exist to procreate.

OK well I think it's quite normal, others, like you, don't. We will just have to agree to differ on that.

However what I don't get, and this isn't directed at you persoanlly, is why there is such a debate about homosexuality in general, why the stigma? On ths board alone there are a good few people who range from being uncomfortable with it to being full on anti-gay. Why?

What real harm is homosexaulity doing to any of them? Why do they seek to ridicule or, worse than that, lambast people over their sexuality. It is this I fundamentally struggle with. I don't get it, I can't get it... it's not logical to hate something that doesn't in any way affect you just because it is something you don't want to do. There has to be some psychology at work there and I woud dearly love to understand what it is.

Yet most heterosexual people use them for personal gratification.... is that frowned on too, after all it's not what they're for which seems to be one of the complaints about homosexuals?

If it didn't feel gratifying then we wouldn't bother having sex and therefore procreating. It's a side effect, not the ultimate goal, biologically speaking.

I never said it wasn't normal, it depends on your definition. BTW which of the three items I explained do you disagree with me on?

Ahem ... contraception. People use their genitals solely for gratification... it's not what they were put there for

None, but then I thought you were using point 3 to illustrate it wasn't normal, my mistake.

As Telboy said you don't decide to be gay, you just are. That is all there is to it in my eyes!

True, but with heterosexuality, there's always the possibility the relationship could lead to children, even from meeting someone and having one-night-stand with contraception. So in that sense, the gratification is still a means to procreation!

Not always. There are plenty of infertile people out there.

True. I suppose a better way of putting it then is that men and women should find each other sexually attractive, primiarily for procreation. The dirty kinky animal sexual gratification we enjoy is the reason we don't get bored of trying. It is of course not abnormal to enjoy gratification, but it is not in itself the biological reason for the attraction, procreation is.

*In case you can't tell, I am semi-making this up as I go, but I think there is some truth in this to explain why some people feel hostile to the idea of homosexuality, it is against what their own programming says is 'normal'*

Explain why homo's behave in the way that they do publicly.
You know what I mean, over emphasising everything

Is this a life style choice, or is this how society has taught said behaviour?

I'm pretty sure a lot of pedophiles think they are normal, and I guess one reason we don't accept this is because we are protective of our young.

Picture a world where governments/agencies start advocating pedophilia through the media, slowly slowly infiltrating peoples minds and thought patterns until pedophiles are accepted and are normal and anyone who speaks out about it are immediately branded.

I know homosexuals and pedophiles are a totally different kettle of fish, and that this would never happen (I sincerely hope) but the principle still stands. If you shout, bully and scream for something to be accepted as normal, after a while, people will do just that.

Ummmmm, what? Underlying issue? I don't give a crap about the Governments motivation for pushing the bill through, they are always trying something to boost their ratings, without giving a monkeys about the general public...every half wit can see that pretty clearly.

The ACTUAL issue which we are debating here is, do we agree with allowing the definition of marriage to be re-defined, which is currently defined as "the voluntary union for life, of one man and one woman, to the exclusion of all others"

Homosexual people have already got Civil Partnerships which give them all the rights a Married couple do, so why are they trying to re-define marriage exactly?

I'll tell you one reason why, so they can infiltrate a whole generation of children into a NWO way of thinking. Just go check out some of the books they will FORCE and INDOCTRINATE our children with! Not to mention you won't be able to opt your children out of this part of the curriculum as it is a "human rights issue"
