Not updated this since start of week,

So far we have :

Done three liquid tests one of which were failed,
Sniff test for hydrocarbons which it passed lol
And finally a full coolant flush, new thermostat and rad/header caps and refill and bleed.

This seems to be working, Scott noted that my original stat wasn't opening fully, so once changed, he took the car out. Gave it some boost and checked levels, all good, once cooled it was also still go and upon opening caps no air release, this was Friday

Tomorrow the same test will be done and well go from there,

So could it be some thing as small and simple as the start, or is it super super early came of failed hg we still don't bloody know haha

Sorry to hear it was the HG Jake. From the sounds of it you caught it right at the earliest possible stage so I'd be amazed if the heads will have any issue. When are the Pistons coming out for a check?

I didn't think you could check the ringland cracks with the pistons still in the bore (could be wrong though)?

All looks so familiar to me.... :-(, Are you having the valve stem oils seals done too, while the heads are off?

Heads came back from machining today, ready for cleaning,

Here's the new cosworth gaskets.

Hopefully the clutch will turn up tomorrow at some point, then she can start being built back up.

Also deleting the secondary air pump system to and blanking it off

Well it's Scott n Neil's good work at the moment.

I'm currently driving my dads 2005 wrx a d I can't believe the difference in both drivability and fuel consumption lol it's costing a fortune this thing.

I bought a centre pipe today, so once were happy the cars fine no problems then it will be getting mapped on 95 Ron, I also have a fuel pump which Scott's supplied and will be fitting.

While people may question the idea of a 95ron map, the car will still have more power than it does now and be cheaper to run lol.

It's not about numbers for me it's drive ability.

Will be interesting to see the figures on the 95 map with your setup. I'm intending to do a dual setup with RaceRom eventually for Vpower and 95. Are you going opensource or Ectek, Simtek etc?

Going for open source, Andrew Carr.

He's mapped my last 3 Scoobs so seems only natural.

Like I say the car will have:

Kn 57i induction kit
Afterburner vortex
De resonated centre section
Up rated fuel pump

So even if it only makes 310-315 it'll still be a nice increase.

The plan was never to map it as I didn't want to stess the engine with extra boost, but now it's torqued down properly I may aswell lol.

Few pics from today

Started to make some of my audio install.

Plan is false floor to protect the sub. Using the wheel well as the box.

Secondly I bagged a set of nearly mint Sti mats

Just like to say a massive thank you to Scott and Neil at Scoobyspares,

As some may know I suspected my car may be getting the dreaded hg issue were the head bolts stretch under boost.

The car got trailered over to Scott, who began testing the car, new rad caps, new thermostat pressure tests etc, final straw was hydro carbons in the coolant.

So out came the engine, heads went for skimming, new cosworth head gaskets, arp head bolts, timing belt and pulleys, rocker cover gaskets along with a new clutch.

Scott suggested a secondary air pump delete, and made and fitted blanks

I picked the car up and have covered about 100 miles under 3k revs. So far so good, they've done a great job, you'd never know the engine had been out.

Even fitted me a walbro pump in readiness for a map

Cheers jake

They're the best mats I've seen on my travels, the but driver one still looks a few days away from catastrophic failure

I've given up trying to get some OEM mats now, might try out ScoobyWorld ones as my Scooby Parts ones feel/look a bit cheap tbh

They wear really bad. There's a set or was a set on eBay for £50 out of a hawk, i only paid £10 for mine lol so I'm happy

Aye my car came with three mint ones, and the driver one looked like it had been used for launching fireworks or something.

I wonder how the passenger ones from a LHD set fit? Might be a market for trans-atlantic trading

ICE isn't something that's interested me since my RS Turbo ack in 97! But this is a nice clean install, and I can see the appeal.

However, are yournow running with run flats?
