High speed does not equal low latency, and once you're above the minimum throughput needed for the game (depends on the game but is rarely much) latency is what makes more of a difference when gaming. For gaming I would rather have a 512kbit line with a stable 10ms latency than a 100Mbit line with unstable 50ms+ latency. Mind you, it doesn't matter so much for something as slow-paced as CoD.

Last I knew Sky didn't let you use any routers other than their own. Would they work? Of course, but they reserved the right to terminate without refund if they caught you. Their routers are (IMO) poor quality too, for both wifi and DSL stability and performance.

In my situation , with me needing a new router either way , i thought if i leave Sky and go with BT. , id be tied in for 18months. Not sure what happens if after that i tried to go back to Sky i might not be classed as a "new" customer. This way if after a year Sky turns out to be rubbish , i can go to BT as a new customer.

When i done my test , all that was connected was my phone WI-FI . If my daughter is downloading anything i can forget using it for anything other than browsing.Seeing i was paying for crap service , i thought i may aswell pay another £10 to actually have one that works !

They said 15Mbps min , 35Mbps max.

I see BT have now started to put posters on the street cabinets, advertising that fibre is available in my area.

I was tempted to move from Vermin Media to BT Infinity but getting just internet from BT seems impossible, everything is offered as part of a package.

I already have my landline from BT & I don't want TV.

Looks like the bearded one will keep my business for a while longer.

Pish Beef. Netgear routers are excellent, you just need the right model

I bought an Asus RT-n66u and it has been great. I bought it when still on BE* (ADSL2+) in preparation for Fibre. When that arrived a month or so ago it has coped admirably and has one of the best wireless signals I've seen.

Each to their own and all that, but we use Draytek in work and I don't hear great comments about it.

I have the netgear job at home, and it works ok for me.

I use Draytek 2820's across all of my sites and find them 100%, for a home user they are overkill though.

Can't remember which one we use internally, but I've heard it being described as shyte on many occasion.
Don't know the circumstances fully as to why its been described this way

Trust me, they are shyte especially the ones meant for home use.

Zyxel or Asus for home use Cisco for business use.

Nah daz I've always only owned Netgears, never had a single issue. Any problems are usually down to user error, you should know this from your support days
