My classic has a factory re-circ valve and often I've heard folk say 'love the dump valve' or similar which always amuses me but the point is normal folk do not know the difference.

I also find it amusing subaru drivers calling other subaru drives chavs for having one when their car produces a similar sound albeit not as loud.

If you start calling other subaru owners chavs for owning a dv or bov then you are one on the basis of owning a car that many consider a chavs car anyway.

Most turbo owners seam to forget there impreza is fitted with a DV of some description when they start slagging other owners off.

to the OP go with what YOU want but buy a decent one Forge or HKS SSQV it is your car. There is no right or wrong with a scooby just a difference in taste. (so long as what you do does no damage to the car)

so a given is a standard car is fine then any change is just taste!! no I dont want neons, etc but do like tinted windows and have seen some nice cars with sticker kits. think we need be a bit carefull before we look down on fellow enthusiasts.

after all we like looking in engine bays at the nice samco hose's and the prodrive battery clamp but dont make the car go anyfaster do they Lordy?

a nice lowered car on coilovers can look mint and be brilliant on the track but hey they are not standard.

so when a car is modded it is for more speed, better handling, better looks. each person has their own views on what is right or wrong

So going by the analogy of some of the previous posts if any of us drive a non-standard car (even if the mod improves it) then that can be a bit chavy

rather glad Im in a club that likes members because they like subaru's and views and treats their members the same no matter what subaru they have no matter what age or style no matter what mods they have or have not got. and I dont feel inclined to laugh at a fellow enthusiast just because they want to be different to me.

i best not reply then

forge dv
pops and bangs
monster graphics
2x 15" subs
and i listen to bassline

and 'no' i'm not a chav

if you like the dv sound, then fit one, but get a good brand, not a cheap one or you will have probs with it

I'm a chiv. Man I can't even spell it. Lol

To be honest the only thing I can see Chav ish here is the putting down or ridiculing of what has been asked, I know it's an open forum where we can all have our say/opinions

Like what has already been said each to there own. The main thing is that were all on this site as we have 1 thing in common and unless you have forgot what it is. We love our scooby s :-)

Have you changed scoobynutta555? Because this has pretty much always been the case with things like dump valves which leads me to believe you must of changed as the car scene certainly hasn't.

It's a shame when true enthusiasts like yourself leave the scene but then I guess thats just one of those things.

Seems to me you're more bothered about other folks cars and what others think , just enjoy you're own cars ,
There are some pretty distasteful modified cars out there a lot worse than a d/v and graphics
From minis too Lamborghini , complete with Swarovski crystal and pink paint jobs ( so you can Chav anything if you want )
So your gonna be pretty limited in you're next choice of vehicle

Not really being too serious, but I do think the graphics, flamer kits, neons, stupid loud dump valve etc. brigade have damaged the reputation of the Impreza in eyes of other road users.

It is noticeable how much more courteous drivers are to me when I am in the Merc compared to when I am in the Scoob. Like chalk and cheese!

Well when I bought my first one in 1996 no one knew what they were and were quite fascinated with the quirky looks and performance. Then when they became one of the late 90s/early 2000s iconic cars everyone seemed to respect them on the road .... then the older ones got cheaper and the dump valve, neons, flamer etc. brigade moved in.... now they are considered a yob's car by many and the rest is sadly history!

It's nothing new at all
Mk 1/2 escorts were the same
Xr3,s / rs turbo
Cosworths
Loads of bmw & merc
Skylines
It happens to most performance type cars , then after a while it goes full circle and the become desirable again
You don't really think the impreza will not go the same way
It's a phase , it will pass

I never seem to have any problems with other drivers being courteous, if anything this is the best car I've had for other road users being courteous towards me. Nobody ever gets up my **** in the scooby, everyone seems to keep their distance.

In previous cars I always used to get cars driving up my ****.

I agree with you on the flamer kits, graphics etc.. but I suppose if you complained about everything that's not to your taste, you'd be wasting alot of energy and time..

But I guess that's why you have 11,000+ posts

Like most "rally" cars from that era . If i see a crap Escort , i think what a dick , if i see a cool Cossie , i love it . Dump valve or no dump valve , if its a nice car its a nice car.

Quick Reply: to have or not to have dump valves!!
