Sorry I can't agree with the fact the noise a d/v makes ,means you're a Chav
I don't run a d/v at all and the noise turbo flutter is way louder than the old d/v I used to have
It's just a noise the car makes at the end of the day

Not running a DV is generally a decision for performance reasons.

Fitting a VTA has no effect on the car except for a deliberate attempt for it to make a "tssshh" noise.

The chances are, fitting an exhaust etc. are for performance reasons although some like the sound of the flat 4 engine exasperated.

My point being, everything above apart from a VTA has it's advantages performance wise (dunno about rear wings as I drive a wagon - but the other bits are on the car as standard generally). A VTA DV does nothing apart from make a noise.

To me, that's where the chavvy waste of money thing comes from. I also notice that particulalrly around here, the Impreza's with VTA DV's that go zooming off everywhere (usually Burger King funnily enough), have lexarse lights and silly wheels on.

(I'm not debating swapping your standard re-circ valve for an aftermarket re-circ unit).

In my opinion stick the VTA's with fake roof vents, silly bumpers/cereal box sideskirts and the rest of the stick on "project" crapp from Halfrauds in the bin.

This is a forum for opinions. Like arseholes, everyone has one. There's mine. I'm actually a very nice chap in the real world, I just don't like crap like the above

i didnt put the dv on my car it was already on it.

i also have a loud exhaust so what does that make me?

if you want to run a dv mate then you go ahead, its your car and if you like it then thats all that matters

Odd , I went d/v less after my fmic install and tbh noticed no loss or gain ( that I can tell )
Although one thought that's crossed my mind , if you run a d/v does it drop you're charge temps ,
Obviously mine is stopping in my I/c pipes and bouncing off the turbo

I know we could be talking a very small amount ?

I dont go to BK or have Lexas lights, silly wheels, neon lights, big sterio and subs or anyhting you get from Halfords but as I run a DV am I a chav.

Just remember not everyone is the same.

So those who remove the DV to create a different noise, Are they Chavs???
OH
Exhausts. Yes you get performance from fitting a 3" system but those who run the likes of the Nur Spec R that are very loud are they all chavs???

To all those slagging off what someone does to there car GET A FECKING LIFE.
It's not your car, all the OP was asking is advice not all this Chav stuff and everyone will laugh at you.

Lordy! I seam to think a few of your good Subaru friends running aftermarket DV's are you laughing at them???? I hope not.
They are by no means equal to:
Spinners
Neon lights for underneath the cars
Washer lights
Any stuck on crap from halfords

Members do not go round laughing at another member if they have a DV fitted btw.

One last point Lordy! I think you might find your wagon and WRX are fitted with Dump Valves pmsl unless you have removed them and blanked them off so who's the chav now lol.

Just remember if we were all the same it be a sad world.

FAO the original Poster. If you want to fit an aftermarket DV go for one of the best like HKS SSQV. Stay well clear of Bailey DV. Your impreza might not like it or it might run totally fine with it.
Wow Andy, have you had a bad day mate
Have to say I agree with the sentiments 100%.

Dunno, maybe you're an "inbetweener", but a bloody big one. You never did send me the link to the trainers site

P.S. you should put some WWE graphics on the Subaru

Why would you remove your DV JUST to create a noise? No performance gains at all? I'd say it was more daft if anything but I'm not clued up on the various series of turbochargers and their ability to withstand running DV-less.

I have a 3" system on my Impreza. Not overly loud, more so for maximum performance gains (hence 284/317 on a standard TD04).

Maybe exhausts are more socially acceptable as you are merely turning up the volume on something that already is there, i.e. the burble, whereas with a VTA you're creating the noise.

Cheers Andy and same to you.

BTW you know my thoughts on VTAs, but as you rightly say each to their own.
And as has been pointed out, what's the difference between making a noise with a VTA and making a different noise by going DV-less? I tried the DV-less opition and found it was far from a performance mod, quite the opposite in fact.

Some Car manufacturers will design a car and even try to give the car it's sound
It's sometimes artificially achieved I,e they have put work into a certain sound

Now that could be deemed sad , as could a liking the destinctive Scooby burble
I personally love the sound of anti lag but its of little use on a road car
So if I had a full wrc spec car and ran antlag would I be a Chav ?

It's whatever floats ya boat and for liking a car to sound a certain way means nowt

I don't have a vta now ( one came on the car ), in fact don't have any d/ v through not having a fitting on my i,c pipe work , so mapped it and now don't bother
So none of what I've done was to achieve a certain sound , so my Scooby has evolved naturally

Yet I listen to n dubz in my car ( honestly )
Or pink floyd

Am I a Chav ?
