the geometry is all sorted it just needs a good road test by Andy and then I can collect it, but we need a dry window as there is salt down up there already... I need rain for once then afterwards the roads will dry out.

I'm very pleased to update the thread today with the news that I have now got the car back home, I collected it this morning so now it's time to have another little go on a few jobs that I have planned for the over winter.
First job today was a good de grease and wash so now the trickle charger is on and time to get a plan together.

The plan will be remaining on a 17" and it's going to be gold Revolutions in the spring, I intend to stay standard ride height ( those P1 springs look interesting
) and a 35 wall tyre will look wrong with a massive gap so I'm going to stick to the oem look and keep the enhancements subtle.

I was referring to the possible group buy Ian have you seen it yet ? If they can get enough orders the spring manufacturer will do a one off run of brand new springs I know Scott's hot topic is springs and ride height

makes me want another classic cant wait to have a look at it in more detail next year as didn't get the time on rally day with the kids running about so hopefully get to next year now
I'm hopeful that next time you see it I will have completed most of my finishing list of jobs And if you get yourself another classic one things for sure you will know your way around it

This weather has stopped my plans over the break so I need to draw a list up now for what I wish to get sorted by the spring.

Like the new grille badge I have used an old skool but new and sharp stanley blade on glass to take off mental sticker residue before. Plenty of shampoo lube and 45 degree angle doesn't mark the glass. Try the clay first though You can get pretty good glass polish too

The badge is as near OEM as I believe you can get it's a solid resin one, very pleased with it here Stu.

It's nice to see someone restoring these because they are lots out there which have done crazy mileage and been ragged. A benefit to you as if you ever wanted to sell it you could get far more for it because it stands out and would be one of few in that condition. Like the RB5's, it's hard to find ones with good mileage and on eBay there was one with 95k for £4,500!
Any pics of the completed engine and the underside or have I missed them?

There are some classics now showing up with massive miles on and if they have not been looked after they are getting very tired indeed. Saying that there are still some very good ones about as well hidden away.
Engine wise it's just been cleaned and degreased with a good service and some seals changed to keep it dry.... I do hope to have a refresh at some point but it's still an unkown to me as I've hardly driven the car so I need to use it to then understand what I need or don't need to do to it altogether.
The underside is finished there are pictures earlier on showing those I'll go and find the page shortly and link it here for you.

I've been quite chuffed with the progress on mine over the last few weeks and then I come back to this thread and feel like I'm doing half a job

It's nothing to worry about at all..... I feel that it will be quite easy in the right habits to look after, I plan on jacking it up and getting the foaming lance under it when required and with the finishes under there to crap will fall off. A job I will be doing is a local friend owns a garage with a ramp so come the spring I'll be getting under the car for a quick coat of wax.
Thanks Jon... tbh since getting the car home the weather has stopped me dead in my tracks, I have little jobs to do but done nothing in reality.... the road has been wet for weeks so I have not even been able to take the car out, it's to nice to ruin it already so I will in the winter only use it in the dry as in the summer it's a different road even when wet.

The main thing is it's here waiting ready for a weather window and as soon as it arrives I'm getting on with the plan keep chipping away there Jon you will get some good ground covered soon enough.

I'll bare that in mind, the plan is a clay bar first off and then I'll run the polishing machine over them, I did the same on T31 and it worked well.
Yes I plan on putting a few more than 200 miles on the car this year for sure
you know better than anyone how a project also teaches patience Hope to see you back on the road very soon as well

I just read through this thread. AMAZING WORK! I hope to take what I learned here and apply it to my 05 WRX Wagon when the time comes. I really enjoy the fact that you refurbished the original parts instead of just buying new everything, even just buying all new bolts makes this sort of project seem prohibitively expensive.
