1994 Version Sti RA.... Restoration Project.

I've had a very productive day today
Firstly I have to say a couple of thank you's firstly a big thanks to Paul who messaged me Friday evening with the offer of the speedo clip I've been looking for and is sending it in the post... I know it's only a small part but its needed here for the project, many thanks Paul for the help and great to have a chat about the cars etc
Secondly a massive thank you to Dylan who contacted me with everything else and a bit more that I listed out for the snagging list, so a 150 mile round trip into West Wales this morning gives me everything I require for Ace to finish building the car on the way back home then and a call to Andy at Ace I managed to meet up with him on route and pass everything over.
One small stumbling point we may have is the windscreen fitter appears to have gone on holiday fingers crossed Andy can get hold of him next week and get the screen organised.
I've also got a thread in wanted as I'm looking for the clips to hold the windscreen scuttle panel down, I need 4 yellow clips and 9 of the small black clips that hold the rubber strip on... I can't find these on eBay but most of the others are.
The carpet is all finished its come up great, next weekend when I go up I will clean all the interior out and fit the carpet and new seats then bring the old seats home.
Getting there slowly

You can say again
Can someone do me a favour and measure the diameter of the holes in the boot that the boot liner gets clipped into. I need to order some of the universal fir tree clips but need to know what diameter.
You see the four holes by the boot lock in this old picture.

It's great to see another original RA in such good nick! I'm just starting to get mine back on the road after 2 years laid up and I can't wait. They're are just such a fabulous car to drive, an experience modern cars just can't rival!

Your welcome Simon.
It was nice to have a catch up.
When I first came across Scoobynet it was a nice community where everyone helped each other out and I still stand by that.
Nice to help someone out once in a while

Nothing major to add so far this week so far, the carpet is all cleaned and dry ready to be fitted back in on Saturday... I've got the amp cable to instal under it first then I'll drop the new interior in to finish it off. Also made a bracket to mount the fire extinguisher on the base of the passenger seat. Also cleaned and bought new clips for the scuttle panel so when it gets re fitted it will seal in tightly so I have no water problems like I did before we started the project.
I've had to start lying everything out ready so I don't forget anything.

Another long day today up at Ace but very productive as I've got a lot done, washed all the inside out including door cards and dashboard... I then fitted all the amp cables ready for a later instal, all run seperatly and tucked away well.
Fitted the carpet in then followed by the centre consol and front seats, then fitted the boot liner spare wheel and carpet. Final job was the front number plate bracket followed by the plate itself.
Still no luck with the windscreen fitter, that's two weeks now so hopefully he's been on holiday and will re appear on Monday, my spring clip for the speedo arrived today as well thanks Paul fantastic mate !!
Stu I peeled the stickers off the tyres as well !!
First job was a freshen up under the seat with silver paint.
Then the car after a wash out....
Clean carpet makes a massive difference...
Anyone have one of these square clips I'm missing one from when I bought the car...
Seat fitted with original design mats which I managed to pick up.
Also fixed the rubber gator when it was all apart...
The rear mats have a clip on section over the tunnel..
Close up of the plastic number plate bracket..
Getting there !!!

Cheers chaps I'm very pleased here with how it's come out... Better than I ever imagined
Still in test Jon and the disc is in the glove box ready
They sit in very well, incredibly comfortable as well Stu..... Yes I have the rears as well still sat in the conservatory they will go up next time now. The old seats are very tired looking, I had not realised until today but they are here now and will get stored away safely.

Nearly there John
Lol Kwik...
Yes great thanks Paul all sorted now here, these damn one only use plastic clips are a pain as the trouble is not the fact they are one use but they are all bloody different ! When I'm back home I know I'll have a few broken about the car so I'll have to see what I need at that point and see what I can do altogether.

Firstly a little update, I'm off up the garage now tomorrow to fit the rear seats in and collect what's left of mine from Ace so I know I don't have anymore gear left lying around up there, I hope also to have some info on the windscreen as the fitter was in fact away for 2 weeks on his holidays, he is now back and the screen that I need was confirmed with him Friday afternoon all being well. It's going to be tight but I am confident that I will be at RallyDay... I've got to be to be positive on this one and Craig the sprayer has told me that whatever he is doing he will drop and have the day on mine to get it ready, it's all hinged on a sheet of glass !!
I have just realised I have some more pictures that I do not think I posted up in connection with the shell work... Craig did a lot of work around the screen area and it shows just how far the rust had got in under the front screen.
Back in time.....
Just goes to show if you see the first signs of rust appearing from under the screen it's just the tip of it.... I would advise anyone who has a full re spray or a repair job from now on if they see a little spot appear get the screen removed and paint it fully, we got this in time thank goodness.

Fair play Simon that is looking superb! Really looking forward to seeing it at rally day in all it's glory, fair play to Craig he has done a cracking job for you, but with a name like that I'm not surprised
You should be proud of the effort, detail, love, sweat just to name a few you have put in to it, but the effort speaks for its self in volumes, well done to you bud for getting so deeply involved and getting it completed in what I would consider very little time considering some take years to get anywhere near that, and that's if they do!
Stunning

You can say that again Jon, the only visible part was around the arial and it was quite badly bubbled so I knew there was going to be rust under the screen for sure but had not bargained on quite so much.

I'm very pleased to confirm the windscreen was fitted in the car yesterday, the car is now with Craig for final paint prep. Rhys at Ace will be back off his holiday tomorrow and will then do the final few jobs and then Andy will set the geometry up and shake the car down to make sure all is well.
As long as nothing presents itself I will be able to collect the car Friday afternoon and should be all sorted for RallyDay
