Indeed mate.
You need the patience of a saint to do a big build to any quality.

I reckon a good divorce lawyer on speed-dial would also come in handy

Finished off these few bits...

Only a small item but highly visible.

And the pump....

No more news today but I'll be after an update ready for when I go up on the weekend.

PS pump looks tidy, I've bought the mounting bracket for powder coating but the bug pulleys are an interference fit item so not easily swapped for a nice alloy one

Cheers Jon Power steering in my experience can be a devil when you start tinkering with it, lucky for me one of the guys gave me this set up intact to replace my leaking one, this is off the same model year as well which made it perfect. Some people replace them and strip them apart no problem but in my experience they do not like being tinkered with at all.

Great I've now got some pictures and we are on the move.

Low resolution shots but I'm sure you get the picture

To say I'm happy is an understatement

Thanks guys I'm not really sure what to say I've been sat here looking at the pictures myself a few times and thinking is that mine is that we're we have got to... The reality of the restoration is now dawning on me, up until last weekend I had not seen all the parts together unpacked and I've only been dealing with parts so to see them all go back together is fantastic I am still yet to see the shell so I've really got that to look forward to as well now

I had a talk with Rhys this morning who is doing the build and touch wood so far it's been plain sailing, everything fits and nothing is causing problems at all so that was great news, after an initial 15 minutes rummaging it the bolt box Rhys has put his hand on everything he needs easily and it's no issue at all.

Happy days even if I do say so myself

There's still a lot to do though... Brake lines for one plus the loom so I'm not getting to carried away here

To be honest Si I think it's all coming together at a rather swift pace. The paintwork on your shell looks superb. It's a different car to what you bought. Massive respect mate for executing such a great project .

Joe

Yes the sump is a bit scabby... One job I was not able to do that I would have liked but the engine is another stage of this project, it's not going to be visible so I'm not to worried about it but its all de greased so I will look to get a coat black on it for now if I can

Thanks Joe a lot of this has been prep and planning, I think that has helped with the speed if that's the right word of the build so far. Yes it's slightly different to the car I drove home on day one

That looks mint - did you not consider ceramic coating the headers so they'd last longer than wrap

Thanks J, hope you enjoy the read there

Jon I had not considered ceramic coating, all I really know about it is its expensive the wrap will be good for a bit plus with the under tray fitted it will help prolong its life.

I've just been quoted £75 plus VAT for my headers and it works better than heat wrap by all accounts. The only downside is it is off white and marks quite easily if you have grubby hands so you need to handle them with gloves

That's very reasonable Jon you have surprised me there I'll look forward to seeing that if you get it done At some point I will be doing to research on an engine refresh so I'll have to remember this for that point in time.

indeed.... Funny enough I've exchange a few texts with Schumacher a couple of days ago he's still got the car tucked away, he's not got net access at the moment so all he's seen of this are a few pictures I texted him. He tried to tell me I had OCD

Ha ha ha, awesome. Coming from him it's a compliment.

How is he doing, I remember he had a medical scare a while back?
