VW T5's have a brilliant Webasto heater system. They can be set by time too.

not sure if I'm the only one here but, turn the car on, (warm up turbo etc)
scrape ice off, climb in warm car and drive to work!
(i don't like de-icer it tends to leave a greasy film on the windscreen)
