Defrosting methods?
Hi all,
Whats the best way to make sure my car is frost free on these cold mornings?. |
Start it up for 10/15mins before your ready to go. Or if you can get electric to it. Put a fan heater inside it and leave ir running all night.
|
I start at 6:30am and park outside of my garden on the road.
|
Sheet windows over,I'm not a fan of de icer.
|
close the door on the garage ?
park close to a building to stop any wind and cover up? dont think you,ll 100 % stop it tbh |
large jug of warm water. and its free.:thumb:
|
cracking idea
|
Does anyone else ever get ice on the inside?
|
Stick a piece of that thin foam roll they use under laminate flooring easy cut to shape and to hold it on over night trap it tight in the doors.
I found out easier to do it from rear door that way you don't trap ya pinky's in the front door |

Warm water and de icer just seems to re freeze. On my work van i switch the ignition off while the wipers are in the upright position, then stick some cardboard under the wipers. Seems to work. I forgot last night and the bloody thing takes ages to defrost. I used warm water and de icer. Both re froze and made it worse. In the end left it running for 20mins. That was 4am this morning

Never mind.

I wouldn't have thought that defrost mode would be effective enough to keep ice off the outside if the heaters inside. What's wrong with a blanket, I couldn't leave mine running outside early in the morning it wouldn't be long before my neighbour set fire to it :). Andy

electric heated scraper. does the trick for me
|
I use a towel on the windscreen, no bothers... The issue with the fan heater is what if it dies on it's ass and sets fire to your car...
|

2ltr empty coke bottle half with hot half with cold poor on wipers the put them on full speed then chuck the rest at the screen but do it from the front not the side you will get wet
