Nope, the people of Scotland did what anyone would do when they are told their pensions will be worth less, their salaries will be worth less, they will lose their jobs, their country wlll be bankrupt.... pretty much the rhetoric that your pal Dave and his cohorts were spinning them on the back of he currency lie.... they got scared basically and who can blame them!

Just think, I still have the City of London, I still have the PRIVATE central bank of England and I still have the pound
To think I almost threw away the fact that all the money I earn and spend has a debt to pay before it even reaches the first persons hands ...... and I almost missed out on the next round of quantitative easing
What must I have been thinking yesterday ?

And why shouldn't they be concerned, easy for you to say otherwise since it's not your pensions, salaries, jobs etc are at stake. If there were any lies spoken, it was from Alex Salmond and the true impact of a currency union, there is no independence if your fiscal and monetary policies are set by another country and the fact he had no real Plan B to speak of. But you're right, it's over so lets move on.
Instead of worrying about Martin and what plane of reality he exists in, why not put the effort in to securing the EU referendum?
At one point, the jocks must have thought they wouldn't get a referendum, but they did, so we need to do the same, to ensure we get the In/Out referendum we want.

I agree, but I just can't see it happening as right now the vote would be to get us out of the EU. I know Cameron claims he us going to negotiate us better terms and then have the referendum, but IMO that can not and will not happen and is little more than a stalling tactic on his behalf. I think his and the other parties deep down know the level of anti-EU feeling amongst the general population and dare not allow a referendum any time soon.
Maybe, just maybe, the Scotland thing will make people wake up, but I doubt it.

Would it not be great to see that sort of turn out at every vote (with the exception of Glasgow that after all that noise was actually a bit disappointing), the passion of the Scottish over the recent weeks should be a example to us all.

One thing that is true in life people don't like change. And a 55% to 45% I think with a bit more education and facts it would have been a win to the Yes vote, David Cameron knows this and the only sensible thing I have heard him say is " I hear you Scotland", he knows it was a lot closer than what the figures say.
The only regret is that a lot of people voted for the wrong reasons they know who they are.
I was undecided until a few weeks ago I just wish Alex Salmond never procrastinated over the last 18 months and did his homework and sold it a bit more eg, the plan B on currency. It wasn't a hard question. All he had to say was it will be the Scottish pound and within 5 years it would be worth 10% more the the UK pound but I will not need a plan B WE will be keeping the UK pound and within 5 years everything in the UK will be taxed 10% more than in Scotland, that alone I think would have swung it and not far off the truth, a first for him.

I can't bring myself to hate the Scots, even though I once employed one who hailed from Glasgow.

I keep reading how the people that voted no were wrong, stupid or scared into it etc. This just seems very wrong to me, the no vote came from all walks of life and they were strongest in the backbone of Scotland, not like all those big mouths in Glasgow that quite frankly let Scotland down. When it finally came down to it all that noise from the yes camp was nothing more than hot air. I bet half of them were so pìssed from dancing round Glasgow they couldn't be bothered to go and vote.

The people of Scotland have spoken. It is a clear result. They have kept our country of four nations together.
Like millions of other people, I'm delighted. It would have broken my heart to see our United Kingdom come to an end.
And that sentiment was shared by people not just across our country, but also around the world - because of what we've achieved together in the past and what we can do together in the future.
So now it is time for our United Kingdom to come together, and to move forward.
We have a chance - a great opportunity - to change the way the British people are governed, and change it for the better.
Political leaders on all sides must work together to advance the interests of people in Scotland, as well as those in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Because it is absolutely right that a new and fair settlement for Scotland should be accompanied by a new and fair settlement that applies to all parts of the United Kingdom.
I have long believed that a crucial part missing from this national discussion is England.
We have heard the voice of Scotland - and now the millions of voices of England must not go ignored.
So, just as Scotland will vote separately in the Scottish Parliament on their issues of tax, spending and welfare, so too England, as well as Wales and Northern Ireland, should be able to vote on these issues - and all this must take place in tandem with, and at the same pace as, the settlement for Scotland.
This referendum has caught the imagination of people across the whole of our United Kingdom.
Now we must look forward, and turn this into the moment when everyone - whichever way they voted - comes together to build a better, brighter future for our entire United Kingdom.

There you go, Salmond is stepping down as soon as a replacement is found. I can't see that taking long
If the stupid **** had just put the vote back say 4 years and came up with some proper plan b's I bet the result would be totally different.
In another 30 years if there is another vote I bet most of the yes voters will change to no as they will be more worried about their pensions and savings like this lot

Yep... Fair play to him, he's done the decent thing and fallen on his sword... Wonder if Cameron would have stepped down so quickly... Some how I think he would have blustered and clung on for as long as possible...
