Do You Use a Desktop PC at Home anymore?
I have a desktop with dual monitors for one simple reason; I am far, more productive and can get things done far faster than I ever could on any mobile device. IMHO, anyone that doesn't have a desktop probably doesn't have particularly intensive computing needs.
Laptops/tablets, etc are for getting stuff done on the move or for some light work from the comfort of another room (i.e. the livingroom as opposed to the study where my desktop is).

Desktop for anything serious, but I'm fortunate in having a laptop with 1920 x 1080 and core i5, so get by with most things. Have 3 desktops in the room at home, main desktop and one running esxi for development, then XP media centre under the TV.
Well said that man. Desktops live on. No other device lives up to my needs.
I have a lappie, but all serious work is done on the desktop. Dual screens and proper gaming are too impractical for a laptop. As long as desktops exist, they will remain my primary platform. The phone is for making phone calls, and fondleslabs are show-off toys, not computers.
How many desktops at home ever actually get used to their potential though I wonder.....
Mine certainly never has been ,I would feel slightly awkward starting to game at 47 also

I will be 62 next month

Earlier this year I sold my modded Subaru, not because of my age, because I was made a decent offer for it.
Stay young of mind
Tablets are fine for surfing and word but thats it, Laptops cant compete with desktops for performance or price. So its realy dependant on use, most folks could prob get away with a tablet nowadays.
I've got DT at home that cost about 900 when i bult it, an off the shelf similar spec pc was about 1500, an equiv laptop at the time would have been 2-3k at least.
I've got Laptop for mobile working and a DT for raw grunt at work.

I use desktop's in work, one for "own use" - work's e'mail, skiving on the internet etc and the other for working on.
At home we have laptop's - She has one as she is mostly bed bound, eldest kid has her old laptop and the youngest kid has a netbook. I use my laptop whenever I get time but usually attach it to the TV and watch Demand 5 or download film's etc.
My desktop is at my parent's house and rarely get's used and our other desktop is in the garage gathering dust, eventually I will use one of the desktop's as a NAS when I get the time to play with it.

Every single plural apostrophised?? Who taught you to do that?
I prefer my desktop. Bigger, quicker, sturdier, easier. Its lack of transportability is its only drawback.
But then this thread wasn't ever really about caring who still uses them, it was a pathetic chuckle-to-self moment when the 6th bedroom notion formed.

LOL, skipped my old desktop at the weekend, it must've been 10 years old and still going strong - along with the workstation, keyboard and 19" lcd monitor. Plus two boxes of assorted cables, boxes, keyboards etc.
Time for a clearout - laptop will be next to go, it's also 10 years old now, cost £2,200 new...but at least it was offset against tax when we had our own business
Waiting for a decent grade B HP 6930p to turn up on schtrade to replace my trust Fujitsu lifebook.

I use them all, horses for courses.
Phones when mobile, tablets almost anywhere, laptop when mobile but MUST have PC software and one of my many PC's when I need more than one screen and the ultimate interface to get some serious work done.
