Oh and I ordered a Walbro 450lph pump this morning from Cath @ Advanced Automotive, the last thing I need is for the the fuel to be leaning out at the top end of the rev range.

So as the Walbro pump is rated for applications to 800bhp it was a no brainer really and should give me plenty of headroom when combined with the Torques FPR and 850cc injectors.

Did the windscreen crack or was it the damage you mentioned previously? either way it's hassle you don't need. Getting one replaced on the pug today if they don't call it off because of the rain.

They tried to fob me off by saying that all UK cars had to have the VIN inspection point in the glass, their argument fell on it's knees when I pointed out that my car is a JDM model and how if they replayed my intial call to the call centre that I did in fact give them all the necessary information including the fact that the screen had no VIN inspection point plus it had a special lightweight screen fitted.

What a bunch of sherman tankers.
Is not the first time they have tried it either, Glad you found out before it had to come out again!!

It was cracked Rich, the metal swarf which was embedded into the lower screen (strangely if you put the bonnet up and were to grind in the engine bay - it forms a lovely arc in the shape of the aperture under an open bonnet) was something I was putting up with.

Well it's fooking unbelievable that Autoglass are now telling that they can source the correct screen but they are on back order with no delivery date available.

So now I have my car with a rippled screen trim and the wrong screen fitted as well, what a bunch of morons.

To say I am cheesed off would be a bit of an understatement at this point.

No problem, the main thing that took my attention was the rippled screen trim and not the screen itself, needless to say I have spoken to Autoglass customer services and they are well aware of the situation.

The galling thing is that I informed then from the off that my car had a different screen to the UK market cars, it has or had a lightweight screen and that is what I wanted fitted to the car.

I know some people may read this post and think it's only a screen and it doesn't make that much difference but that is not my point, I specifically told them from the start what was required and they have totally fooked up the whole job.

The screen and trim are available from Subaru as Ryan has found out for me and the expected delivery time is 14-18 days from Japan.

I am not saying they are as good as the NGK Racing series plugs but they are a 1/6th of the price, or you could also try Denso IK24 spark plugs which also get good reviews.
Let me know how you find them on cold start. I am using pfr7b atm abd therefine. I plan on using VP import therefore wanted a more colder plug. I foundmixed reviews.on the Denso. Lots of fake chinese plugs about aswell

Will do Kas, the plugs I am using at present are PFR7B's but I had read reports of at higher boost levels of the spark being 'blown out'.

One thing for sure was that I wasn't going to pay around £150 for a set of NGK Racing spark plugs that would be changed every 12 months or so.

Well that's about as much use as Autoglass customer services, there's an oxymoron if there was ever one.

I rang them today to be told that still no delivery date available so I asked where they were sourcing the screen, seal and trim from; they replied Subaru UK, so I then told them that the delivery time from Japan was 14-18 days as there was stock available so I asked which dealer had they contacted? The line went silent for a few seconds, then I was told they'd be on the case and ring me back this afternoon.

And guess what?

It's a shame that the RCM pump is hidden away in the tank as it's a nice piece of kit.

That Walbro pump is a bit of a beast as well.

Yeah it does look rather nice as pumps go,the pump head on the walboro is huge compared to the rcm, mind to shift the amount of fuel it does it needs to be!!

Thanks, it's coming together and I am hoping the end justifies me living like a hermit.

There is one more thing that has been bugging me and that was the battery, being a Spec C and the smaller battery tray my choice is very limited.

I did look at Odyssey but they don't do a battery to suit the application so I had to go a step up and choose probably the best battery on the market.

It is an Optima (a USA subsidiary of Varta) Yellow Top R 2.7, it's a funky looking battery and should make for a talking point unlike these boring Odyssey batteries that everyone else seems to favour, and as usual I managed to get a cracking deal.

Now I hope that should just about be it, but I do like the idea of a funky battery clamp to go with the battery.

Not today Geraint, perhaps if you were coming back tomorrow then I would get a fleeting blurred glance at the car if I was quick enough.

Not too sure Kas but realistically I would say early part of March.

Got the engine removed today and most of the top side ancillaries ready to give it a freshen up with some silver VHT paint.
Clutch also removed which is in very good condition with hardly any wear and will be up for sale just now.
Once I've done the painting I'll replace the plugs along with fitting the ACT clutch and install the engine back into the bay.
