The main thing that really boils my **** with the SKY EPG is this...

Say you are watching ch 520 - Discovery....

You watch your prog - or get bored halfway through, so you hit 'GUIDE' again to see what else is on...

WHY, oh WHY does it start back at 101? - I want it to show me where I am currently in the guide, I like that section of programmes - I want to see all programmes around it...

It boils my **** - or is it just me?

I used to have the MS Media Center Live TV guide and it did this (stayed where you are in the guide) and the whole household *really* misses this feature now we have Sky HD.

I love this new system.

Thw wife mistakingly deleted a program of mine the other night and was quite sheepish when she told me.
I made her suffer for a good couple of hours before I told her about the undelete function!

Buy a URC and program a macro - sorted.

I have the Home Theater Master MX-500 URC and have programmed macros for the Planner's "Recorded", "Viewed" and "Delete" menus. And also for "On Demand".

Yes I agree.. Anytime is now a complete waste of time! Nothing at all in the entertainment, docs or kids channels.. just all ppv movies!

Its more of an advert for SkyMovies than anything. When it fist came out i swear they said it went by what was on your planner , it showed programs that u would be interestd in.

Cool

I'm not at all happy about that update! I must have had it a while ago, but no comms from Sky. Had a failed recording last night, said it had run out of disk space, but planner showed 67% free. However, the deleted section had about 150 programmes in it!

So, despite what the planner says is free space, the deleted proges still take up space.

Watch out for that one!

Are u sure this is right ? Hope not ! The only reason i delete stuff is to free up space.
I have failures all the time , freezes alot and series linked stuff unlinks. Another thing i found , if a program runs over its time slot , the planner doesnt adjust. So if you have set to record and the show before runs over , it will miss off the end !

In the delete section you can't 'mass delete' it has to be done one at a time.

I've had this EPG for over 2 months now.

If you go into your settings you can adjust your planner so that it starts recording up to 10 minutes before programme starts and the same with the finished recording time. Obviously 10 minutes is way too much but you can have 1 2 3 etc minutes. I only found this out as one particular series I always recorded did this and googled it to see if there was anything I could do.

Go into TV guide, options, Sky+ setup

Yeah , i know that. But when i was recording Preditor , Million Pound Drop over ran by 15 mins , so i had to record the program AFTER Preditor (some crap film) to ensure i got the end , which luckily it did. The problem is i cant keep it on my planner (the whole reason i recorded it) as the film is split across two recordings !

That's what it said, "Out of disk space" Seeing the amount of stuff in the deleted section, I can't really come to any other conclusion.

When I delete large HD or 3D prog from the planner the percent used goes down, but obviously that space isn't freed as it's in your deleted folder.

Pretty poor really.

I think what it does is prioritise...

I.e. if you have progs in the 'DELETED' section and you're running out of space when a recording/s are in progress, then it will automatically and permanently delete some of those progs (as required) from the 'DELETED' section, so as to free up the requisite space - rather than stop the recording/s.

This is what I experienced the other day. (And I'm not talking about the preferences in Setup neither, as I've ALWAYS had that set to 'MANUAL').

Annoyingly though, when you do send progs to the 'DELETED' menu, the planner's memory bar indicates that the available disk space has increased - obviously by the cumulative amount of the file/s sent into 'DELETED' - when clearly this can't be/isn't the case. As that would mean it would have a perpetual memory!!

Misleading.

Poor effort, Sky.

What happens to your sky box functionality once it's cancelled?
I know you'll lose all the sky specific channels but I'm kind of hoping it'll go to a freesat PVR?

This is obviously its whole reason for being.

I like it.

But when you go to permanently delete from the DELETED section, I'd also like to see an, "Are you sure you want to delete this programme?!" confirmation question... So that you get '2 bites of the cherry', so to speak.

Haw haw haw.

On the contrary, due to the bloody Victorian-era, Ofcom and BBFC, British TV '****' is, er... gash! (Oh, the irony).

So no, nowt worth recording for one's jollies.

I know what you mean - I think it's the fact that you fill in the blanks with your imagination.

But it's ultimately frustrating lol.
