I had a pretty nasty hand injury a few years back broke two fingers in five places and took the tip of my little finger off, my middle finger got a hefty knock as well and started throbbing like **** straight after the accident.
The first thing the medic did was heat a needle melt through my nail and relieve the pressure in that finger before he even touched any of my mashed fingers. Although I coulden't understand it at the time it was probably the best thing he did as I only ended up with two sore fingers as opposed to three.
The pain relief was practically instant TBH.

A mate if mine at work managed to leave his hand between a land rover engine and gearbox causing 4 blood blisters under his nails, after 3 or 4 days of not being able to work without whinging he took a drill and a 1mm drill bit, heated it up and 5 mins later all pain gone!

The pain of trapped blood iunder a nail can be unbeareable,its like torture.My very worst was a small bang in the wrong bit of my index finger,after a day or 2 the pain was unbeareable...just as bad as a nasty tooth or earache.Once melted it was instantly better,but it came back and needed another melting. ...After that the nail died and pealed from the back and curled.Everynite it needed filing as it caught in absolutely everything and hurt like hell until it fell off weeks later .

Thankfully I didn't need to go. The slightly worrying part was when I showed the nurse my toe and she asked whether I had bandaged it myself, which I did, she said I had done a better job than she probably could've done. The fact I was hysterical at the time...what does that say about the NHS

I've heard a several methods so far: a hot needle, a drill, digging away slowly with a stanley blade... and since I'm stalling for time, I'd appreciate all your opinions on the most painless method.
I've got two. One on both hands. But only one of them will stop me working, as I can't put any pressure on it at all. This has to be done before tomorrow, which rules out going to the docs, if that's a possibility.
