No, but if a restaurant only served ketchup andI wanted brown sauce, I'd take my own brown sauce with me.

I've often supplied my own oil etc to be used in services, or sourced parts to be fitted by a garage.
THey get the job done quickly as they're not waiting on parts, and I get the stuff I want used on my car rather than whatever they've got a 50 Gallon drum of.

I've never, ever had any garage give me an issue about it.

 

As said diesel oil goes black very quickly,if you rub some of the oil between the tips of you fingers it should feel silky smooth
Had my car serviced not long ago and i always check under the bonnet afterwards,the mechanic hadn't screwed the brake fluid cap back on properly,and fluid was leaking out,and had spilt engine oil topping the oil back up,and had left the screen wash bottle cap off.
Used him a few times and never had a problem before,only thing i could think of was that it was a Saturday,and rushed the job to knock off early.Still i had a word with the garage boss and said i wasn't happy on the service.

 

I always check the oil and other items before I drive away from the garage ..... it saves all issues and questions if you suspect something.

Anyway - I'm amazed that you didn't do the oil change after you had bought the oil and filter anyway ........ it's a 30 minute job after all, and you've done it before.

 

Its true of course that the oil runs black in a diesel and it does not take long to get that way. I have to say that the oil after the oil change seems to have got black more quickly than I would expect though. Maybe a look at the oil filter element would confirm it.

I would certainly be suspicious with the oil looking as black as that.

I have come to the conclusion that as the oil is quite thin that probably was changed but I don't think the filter was

My reason for supplying my own parts is I wanted a main dealer filter putting on, not one from a motor shop, they may well be okay but I always use main dealer filters on turbo cars

I never bothered the garage about it, just wont go back
I didnt like the fact it took 4 hours to put 2 tyres on and change the oil

 

I dont know how your oil filter container is arranged, but if they did not change the filter then there would have been a filter's worth of oil which was not drained and that would go some way to make the new oil look black.
